I'm GreensparksJP and I am the creator/moderator of this group. I created this group because I am planning to write a young adult dystopian novel and I want honest feedback from real readers. I know I am not the only person aspiring to write a novel. This group is not only for writers, it is for people who just love books too! I hope you all enjoy the group and invite your friends!

hey, I'm Jane aka TheWittyRomantic. I've been reading and writing as long as I can remember, and I love talking about each! I have a YouTube channel dedicated to books, and I have an account on Wattpad where I post some of my writing for feedback. I am currently focusing on one novel, though I have plenty to chose from, and as of this morning I am also working on a short story which I hope to submit to a literary journal next month. It will be my first time submitting something for publication, and I'm both excited and terrified.

welcome Tristan! I personally would be happy to give some input, I certainly understand not being a confident writer as I wouldn't say I'm in any way confident in my own writing. Welcome to the group, if you have any questions or just want to talk don't be hesitant to message me or another mod!

Briege Havern | 1 comments Hey I'm Briege. I've always loved writing and reading but only started seriously writing last November when I did the NaNoWriMo challenge and got a good start on working on a YA Urban Fantasy trilogy. I have completed the first full draft of the first book, so I'm in the process of editing it and am also working on book 2.

Jo Hey, I'm Jo. I also have always loved writing. With an editor and author for a mother it's in the genes! Written the draft of a YA fantasy novel, but needs a lot of editing. Trying to hone my writing skills, working on planning, character development and world building. Also looooove writing and reading fan fiction.

Welcome Jo! That's so great that you have a family member that you can relate to with your writing! If you'd like any help editing you can create your own folder in our "Member's Writing" folder and let us give you our feedback! Also, what fandoms to you write and read fan fiction for? I've never written any, but now and then I do like reading it! If you have any questions about the group, feel free to ask!

message 20: by Jo (new)

Jo I've written fics for Stargate, Firefly and Fawlty Towers that I can think of and are on the site. None of them are complete though, one of my flaws as a fic writer. I generally read fics my sister tells me about. An author I've really been impressed with is Alydia Rackham, she has written a lot of fics for the Asgard universe and a particularly good Harry Potter one. What do you guys like to read in terms of fics?

message 21: by Camila (new)

Camila | 5 comments Hello! I'm Camila and I started writing last year when I had to practice for an English exam, I suppose it stuck with me. I have recently found that there are not many stories that I like so I thought why not write them myself? The thing is I'm still new and need lots of practice.

It's never too late, you don't have to have been writing your entire life to be full of potential! As you said, the key is to practice, write as often as you can and experiment with different genres or writing prompts if you want. Welcome to the group!

message 24: by Craig (new)

Craig S | 3 comments Hi everyone! I'm Craig. I've been writing on and off my whole life, which hasn't been a long time since I'm only 25. I really enjoy it but I find myself distracted by life and so I don't do it often. I wanted to join a group to motivate myself to write more and to improve. I enjoy YA novels the most because I find that the stories they tell affect me more than any other type of novel.

message 25: by Dylan (new)

Dylan Kiely | 1 comments My name is Dylan, and even since I was small, I've been obsessed with reading. I read my first real book at 6 with my mother, Stormbreaker, and immediately fell in love with literature. I have been writing short stories and started books that I have never pursued all my life. Most kids got some kind of fancy present for Christmas, but I've just gotten the latest kindles. Writing is my life, and my one dream is to share it with the world. I feel like my passion for the art makes my work in it so much more meaningful, and I'd love to here your opinions of it if you visited my page.

Welcome Dylan! Your passion is absolutely stunning and I'm excited to see such a passionate person join our group. That's great that you were introduced to literature at a young age and have continued to love it, and I hope you will share some of your writing with us here at Aspiring YA Novelists! Welcome to the group, and please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have!

Welcome to our little group Craig! Haha well, I'm only 16 so you've had more time than I have to practice! I find that people at any stage in life can still in some way feel that YA can relate to their lives and I can understand the allure (especially as I myself am still a teenager). I hope our group can help motivate your writing, I find I too can often become distracted from my writing. Feel free to share your writing with us to get feedback and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

message 28: by Dana (new)

Dana Burkey (danaburkey) Hey everyone!! I am really glad I found this group! I am Dana and I love both reading and writing YA! It is available on Amazon if anyone wanted to check it out, or feel free to message me and I could even send a Mobi copy in exchange for a review! :)

Casey May (caseymayauthor) | 1 comments Hi from Tasmania, Australia!
My name is Casey May and I'm an aspiring author. I write young adult fiction - my preference is fantasy and sci-fi. My favourite author and inspiration is J.K. Rowling.
My website is caseymay.weebly.com, where you'll see my works in progress and blog. I love reading and writing in my sunny backyard or by the fireplace in Winter. I have found music and day dreaming to provide the best scenes!

Roxanne Shriver (roxannexshriver) Hi everyone, I'm Roxanne. :)

I'm working on getting my first novel written and published, but it still has a long ways to go. I've rewritten it several times now, and I'm still not satisfied! So if you guys can help me out at all, it'd be very much appreciated. ^w^

Welcome Casey May and Roxanne! Casey, I'm sorry I didn't see your message until now!

I hope you both have a wonderful time here in our group and might help us get a bit more participation here, it's been a bit of a ghost town recently, I'm sad to say. If either of you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Casey, your website sounds great, I will be sure to check it out. J.K. is such an amazing author, I think she would be considered a favourite for almost everyone who has ever read her work! I'm currently working on my first sci-fi novel, so I hope you don't mind if I ask you some questions now and again!

Hello Roxanne! I believe any of our members here in Aspiring YA Novelists would be happy to help you out! Novels are tricky, and editing and revising can prove to be an even larger trouble than writing the novel in some cases, so I will help if I can! I don't think any author or writer is ever truly happy with their writing though, as they say we are our own worst critics!

That's excellent Tara, welcome to the group! I know what you mean about waiting, I recently submitted a short story to a magazine for the first time, and they have a very long response time. If you would like to post any snippets of it or any other writing, feel free to create your own thread in our Member's Writing folder, check out our Author's Corner for publishing and more, and feel free to voice any questions or concerns you have regarding the group in our Questions/Comments/Concerns thread and I'll be happy to answer you as soon as possible!
Welcome to the group and I hope you'll enjoy your time with us :)

Welcome to the group Kaleb, and congratulations on such an amazing accomplishment! Are you planning to go the traditional or self-publishing route? Feel free to share snippets of your writing in our Members' Writing thread, talk about what you're working on and how your "long, arduous road to publishing" is going in our Working on Writing thread, and feel free to pop in on the (sadly inactive) publishing thread, and any other threads you'd like to take part in! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask, and I hope you enjoy our group!

I'm going to try the traditional publishing route first, just to see what I can see. In the mean time, I'll start building up funds to do all of the marketing necessary for self publishing. I'm not in much of a time crunch at the moment, so I can be a bit relaxed.

Hi, Loury! "Immerse" is a great name, because I was intrigued the moment I read it. What's it about?

message 46: by Loury (new)

Loury Trader | 10 comments Thanks Caleb. "What is your novel about?" Is the hardest question to answer. Mainly, because I just want to ramble on and on about the many details of the story. I came up with this small "hook"/describing little something.

80 years after the vaccination panic, a cure was found to prevent the extinction of human kind. Only those permitted by The Northern United Sectors will be granted the kind of life that many are willing to kill for.

When 17 year old Slone, illegally takes the "cure vaccine", she is forced to shed who she is for a new identity and a new home. Only to find terrible truths about her past and disastrous lies about the future.

In life, nothing is free not even death. There is always a price to pay, and only a few can survive.
