Josh Cook | 3 comments Henry Dorsett Case had just recently been caught hacking by his employers and they made sure he was unable to hack again. He becomes a gangster in the streets of Chiba City, Japan where he is in debt to the local drug kingpin. Because of his lack of a job and debt, he quickly accepts when offered a job as a computer hacker by a strange man who goes by the name Armitage. Case also starts a relationship with a local samurai who goes by the name ‘Molly Millions’. With reasonable suspicion, Molly is very skeptical of Armitage and advises Case to do some research on the guy. Armitage then reveals the mission to the pair; Steal a ROM construct that contains the character and recollections of Case’s ex-mentor Dixie Flatline, a noted fabled computer hacker. However, before they begin the mission, Case learns the true identity of ‘Armitage’ to be Colonel Willis Corto, an ex-American soldier who was betrayed by the US government, and had his personality completely altered. But, before Case is able to do anything with his knowledge, the team is off to recruit new members to help their cyber attacks.

I gave this book four, out of five stars because it was a really good story and it kept you guessing until the very end. The only thing I wasn’t too fond of about this book was it was very hard to keep up with, and if you weren’t paying too close of attention you would get lost fast. I did like how the book was written in the early 80s and it still had a fair amount of technologically based things in it that wouldn’t typically be common in writings of this time period.
