I decided to add this, even though we won't be reading it til April, because I am really nervous about this book. I have heard so many different things about Dostoevsky...
What have you guys heard about him?

Well- count me in. I will pick this up today. This is such a popular classic so I am looking forward to an interesting journey.
I read the first two pages and the writing isn't scary at all. I am feeling tons better about this book now. :)
How does everyone feel about reading it in a month? It would be about 140 pages per week to read?

I could read it faster. In fact it would be kinda nice to finish earlier in the month like 15th-20th-ish...? But whatever works for everyone is fine with me.
is Celia reading it with us still? anyone else?

I'm still with you guys. My job is just kinda...demanding. However, don't let that stop you guys from heading forward with this. I have a copy and I'll try and give my two cents as much as I can.
Celia, sounds good!
I also have heard amazing things about Dostoevsky's the brothers Karamazov ... I don't own it and won't own it for quite a while...but just thought I'd mention it now in case anyone really likes Crime and Punishment...

I am 70 pages into the book and I don't know what to think of it. I haven't been drawn in yet...And I find the personality of Raskol to be contradictory...
Ugh. I finding this a difficult read... I've been overly busy all week so haven't been able to read much, but now that I have time I find I don't really wanna pick it up! I will, of course, but....ugh... haha...
I have felt the same way. I buckled down and read quite a bit Friday so that I could take a break from it this weekend. In don't think I'm supposed to feel that way about a book! Lol. I can't put my finger on it...it's not boring it's just so much work! I could not imagine having to read this as a freshman in college. Raskols being ill and dreary and pale and weak....ugh...just turn yourself in already!
Haha...I know! I find the psychological aspect interesting but after a time it's just too much. And the lead up to the major events takes forever and I find my attention wanders... OH well...
Shoot me Now! I am highly regretting our decision to read this horrid book! I'm only halfway through :(
In fact, if I wasn't so stubborn in finishing books, I would totally use this book as my next fire-starter!

LOL- my sentiments exactly. Once I commit to a book I have to finish but I considered abandoning that rule. I determined instead to finish by Wednesday and put an end to this mess. I will simply not understand the hype about this book.
