J.Q. Davis (jqdavis) Hey all!

I am the author of Turning Grace and Escaping Grace, books about a teenage zombie hybrid.

I love anything zombie. For some reason I am just fascinated by the whole reanimation concept.

So I was just curious:
What are some of your favorite zombie novels?

E. | 86 comments I listened to "My Life as a White Trash Zombie" as an audiobook freebie. I liked it so much I bought the next two in the series.
Also "The Girl With All the Gifts" was a good audiobook.
I know they aren't hard core zombie, but that's my list.

Jorge Lopez I am an avid Zombie novels reader. It is one of my favorite sub-genres, if not my favorite one. So far, I woulod say these are the ones that I enjoyed the most in no particular order:

- Apocalypse Z trilogy by Manel Loureiro
- Rot and Ruin series by Jonathan Maberry, including the prequels Death of night and Fall of night
- The Rising by Brian Keene and its sequel, City of dead

Steven (tbones) | 133 comments Dead Rain by Joe Augustyn was fun and then there are 2 anthologies I read a long while back called Book of the Dead 1 and 2. The second John Shipp was part of. Both books were really cool. And yeah zombies are so freaky because they are us but they can't be bargained with. And I don't know but the moaning sounds they make are creepy for some reason. Oh and thumbs up for the Mellick title that guy is friggin awesome. Mellick is addictive is such a "bizarre" way :)

Hi E. If you like listening to audios, I found this podcast about a year ago called We're Alive. There are 4 seasons that you can find at http://www.werealive.com/episodes/

I found it pretty entertaining because not only are you listening to the story, but you've got sound effects as if you are watching it. It's pretty cool to hear the zombies feasting ;)

Steven (tbones) | 133 comments Ok now that sounds wicked cool. I will have to check that link out. Is it recorded kind of like Stephen King's The Mist? Like the old radio shows? So, J.Q. Dead Rain might creep you out a bit. Imagine zombies coming at you in a flood, just floating around trying to bite you...freaky huh. Can you imagine if they combined a zombie with the creature from the movie The Thing. A zombie head with spider legs running around trying to bite your legs and feet :o)

Steven (tbones) | 133 comments I just added the disks to my wish list on Amazon and my next days off I am going to listen to some more from the site. These CDs would be fun to bring on a camping trip...listen to it around the fire at night :o)

I am definitely going to add those books to my list.

One of my favorite contemporary romance authors is Jamie McGuire. She writes mostly romance, but last year she wrote a zombie novel called Red Hill. It follows four different characters trying to survive a zombie outbreak. It was pretty great.

Erin (ems84) | 9293 comments As much as I love the zombie genre I haven't read that many books on the subject, mostly my love comes from movies.

Christopher Law (evilclaw) | 5 comments I quite like Mira Grant's Feed - decidedly young-adult but quite fun. I'm also currently dipping into Darlings of Decay, which is a mostly good anthology so far.

Jorge Lopez I´m adding that one to my list.

Thanks J.Q.

Yeah! Romero's movies are a must-watch. I also enjoyed his novelization of Dawn of the Dead:

Dawn of the Dead by George A. Romero

Beau Johnston (beau_johnston) I really enjoyed Dawn of the Dead. Definitely worth adding to your to-read list if you haven't read it yet.

Stephen Cordingley | 17 comments Beau, I hadn't even realized there was a novel.

Beau Johnston (beau_johnston) I purchased my copy a couple of years ago (I devoured it in two sittings).
