So, Scribble and Desdemona (view spoiler)[ incestuous! I did not see that coming. But, maybe I shouldn't be surprised since until it was introduced that she was his sister, I thought they were searching for his girlfriend/wife/lover (hide spoiler)]

I think Beetle is my favorite so far. He is just so slimy and irreverent it is amusing.

Tristan and Suze - forever connected by their droidlocks. Interesting (and disgusting description) of their appearance and maintenance (view spoiler)[It was a surprisingly heart-wrenching and touching scene when Scribble had to cut them apart after Suze was killed (hide spoiler)]

That's funny, because I clicked on "The Characters" specifically to say that I dislike The Beetle. Haha!

Beetle is just the most interesting to me, even if he is a crazy jerk!

Tristan and Game Cat (view spoiler)[Brothers - Interesting that one is a "cat" and the other identifies with "dog". Anyone know if this is a reference to something else? Literary? Mythological? Since other things in this book are obvious references to other things . . . (hide spoiler)]

Yes I totally agree with you on this. I thought the whole conjoined thing was crazy weird and then it ended up being touching.

So is this confirmed a bit later? I am only about 75 pages in and I know they are (view spoiler)[ siblings now, but was starting to think they were just super, super close. NOT incestuous. Hmmm... (hide spoiler)]

Beetle is great! He's a jerk and a slimeball of the first degree, but at the same time he gets stuff done and is a master manipulator. When I read I am always fascinated by characters who are so skilled at manipulation.

When my children were small I discovered how useful it could be to make them think something was their idea or desirable to get the result I wanted. I can't seem to do it with adults, though, so I guess that's where the fascination comes from.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the idea of the dreadlocks keeping them no less than 6 feet apart. Completely impractical, but...wow!

I also wish I had some of those nano-cleaner things. I could certainly use them on my bedridden father-in-law. :)
