Katherine (kiik) | 158 comments Hello, again! I hope everyone's doing well. So what did everyone read this week? How far along is everyone in the challenge?

This week, I completed Scab (based on a true story), which brings me up to 30 books. Meanwhile, I'm waiting on a couple books from the library and struggling to choose what to read next. I tried Wuthering Heights (over 100 years old), but I can't stay focused with all the long-winded descriptions. Ugh. Hope you all are having better luck!

Lisa (lrclark83) I have only eleven categories left but, unfortunately, most of the remaining categories are ones that I find the most difficult. I am currently reading The Tenant of Wildfell Hall for the classic romance category and I am enjoying it much more than I had expected to. It is slow reading as I haven't delved into that language since college. Next up, I still have to finish Lord of the Flies for my book that I should have read in high school.

Jackie | 738 comments I read Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead for my play. I had some trouble getting into it at first; the existential dialogue was a bit hard to follow from time to time. Once it got going though I really enjoyed it. Not sure what I'm going to read next; I think I've got 14 prompts to go.

Megan (mghrt06) | 546 comments 35 of 50. I'm ahead for once in the challenge and I'm very pleased. I read two books last week and both filled prompts. I read the book with magic and book your mom loves. My mom and I discussed the book when I was finished which was nice because we don't read the same types of books so I'm glad that was one of the prompts.

Hopefully I can knock off two more challenges by Friday but to be honest this week is pretty busy so we'll see!

Juanita (juanitav) | 744 comments Thanks to Katherine for opening these discussion threads!

I've been on vacation but am home again though still on vacation (yay!)

I have been reading but nothing that fits my remaining prompts. (6 to go!) I've decided to read some books I've had on my TBR list and take a break from the challenge.

Hope everyone is enjoying the last days of summer!

Ray Jordan (rjordan1041) Started "Pride and Prejudice" this week for my classic romance prompt. I figured this prompt was a no brainer seeing as how this title is probably on a lot of people's lists. It's kinda slow going and it may spill into part of next week. Just ordered some books off of Amazon that I had trouble finding at my local bookstore. Now the question remains, which prompt will I choose next. I may read "Pygmalion" next for my play prompt.

message 7: by Nicole (new)

Nicole I didn't finish anything. I'm working on my 500+ page book.

message 8: by Heloisa (new)

Heloisa Angeli (heloisa_angeli) Last week I finished "a banned book" - Madame Bovary. Very interesting, I would love to discuss this one!

I also working in my "book with more than 500 pages" (The pickwick papers) and in the "A book with a female author" (Outlander) - or maybe I will use "the pickwick papers" in the category "a book that your mom loves" - but in the father version, I read the book that my mom loves around a year ago, but I'm not reading it again so soon it is "story of a soul" by st therese of lisieux.

I started the challenge in august - checking categories that applied to books that I'm absolutely sure that I have read in the present year. I still have 29 categories to fulfill!
