Yes as Shrouq says.. it's a really old novel and the characters are kids so the author's trying to mimic kids' way of talking. So my advice focus on the overall meaning rather than the English and you'll understand (Y)

Well yes I agree, it's kindda boring.. but I found it in 1001 books you should read before you die so I thought it'd be more interesting.
Yet, if you keep reading till the end you'll find out the author's vague reflection of the personalities of human beings and how it affects the society. He's trying to prove that no matter young or old you'll still be subjected to the restrictions of your own personality and thus, act as it condemns. So it's basically human nature ruling the awful world we live in.

Yeah he has a bad fate at the end too. He's like the voice of sense in the whole novel!

Yeah I totally agree with you. However, I don't think it's because of the contagious low moral of people. It's basically because being THAT loyal is utterly stupid and this has been proven by the character Amir. Being that loyal is quite a liability because people are unpredictable and usually misuse and vandalize good traits.
