Femke We will be reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky this month. Feel free to join!

This discussion will be a bit different than the last time we did a book discussion. The book is divided in multiple parts, so we will be discussing one part at a time.

When you have finished the book, you can put your final thoughts about the book in this discussion board.

Spoilers are welcome!

About the book:
Charlie is a freshman.

And while he's not the biggest geek in the school, he is by no means popular. Shy, introspective, intelligent beyond his years yet socially awkward, he is a wallflower, caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it.

Charlie is attempting to navigate his way through uncharted territory: the world of first dates and mix tapes, family dramas and new friends; the world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite. But he can't stay on the sideline forever. Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a deeply affecting coming-of-age story that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up.

Femke I read this book a few weeks ago, but I was planning on watching the movie after I read it, so I could discus it within this board. Unfortunately, I was very busy with school and had no time to watch it.

After all, I liked this story. The book was written very beautifully, because those letters gave you the feeling that you belonged to the story. But I missed a plot twist that you will normally have in books. Charlie made an massive development in his personal being and that is something that I really liked.
But some things could be better than others, I would have loved if Patrick came out for being gay and that Charlie and Same were together.

I gave this book a 3,5 out of 5.
