Hello! We're going to kick off our re-read next Tuesday--the day after our Labor Day holiday in the States. I was lucky enough to get an early copy of After You and it's every bit as funny, sad, and amazing as Me Before You. I first met Louisa a few years, but I'm thrilled to return to the novel that introduced her to me and millions of other readers around the world.

Have you already met Louisa? Or will this be your first time?

Vivienne Galasso (galassov) | 1 comments Hello, I'm excited to re-read this lovely book with you all and I also anxious for the sequel 'After You'. Thanks!

Readsandeats | 35 comments Hi,
I have yet to meet Louisa and will be meeting her for the first time. I am looking forward to learning about her and all the other characters in the book.

Clare CRHL (clarecrh) | 1 comments I read this book last month and had visible reactions in public places. Super excited for the sequel. x

Dara | 9 comments I will be meeting Louisa for the first time. I actually just got recommended this book for a book swap recommendation and I am excited to see that you are doing a re-read on it. I think this will be fun!

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for joining me. It's nice to see a mix of new and familiar names. I'm really looking forward to starting next week and will post a schedule later today.

I am on the same page as Clare--I was deeply moved by ME BEFORE YOU. I consider myself something of a tough nut, so it's the rare book that gets me weepy!

Dara | 9 comments Yay! Thanks Julie for letting us know about the giveaway! I started reading last night and so far I am loving it. I didn't realize it was set in London/England, that makes it more exciting since its an area I am enthralled with.

This is probably my 58th (I think) time meeting Louisa. Me Before You has made me fall in love with her. I can't wait to read After You though I am very curious about what happens with Lou after Will. Also very anxiously waiting for the film adaptation of MBY to see Lou and Will together on the big screen.

Readsandeats | 35 comments Thanks Julie

Naila Nadeem | 1 comments I met Louisa about 2 years ago . Since then I have introduced her to a number of readers , all of whom have loved her . Waiting to meet her again and getting to know what she has been doing with herself . Also loved her family & want to meet them all again

Oh, Naila. I promised myself that I wouldn't give anything away, but I will say that you will get to learn a lot more about Lou's family in AFTER YOU. It will certainly answer a lot of questions you might have about their motives in ME BEFORE YOU!

You're from Greece and live in Italy! Marina, I think we're all envious of you--nevermind Lissa and (pre-accident) Will!

Crissyʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔ (crissyramirez) Hi Everyone!!

I met Louisa last year, re-connected with her last February and it's a pleasure to read about her and Will again.

I had mixed feelings about 'After You' when I first found out about it, but now, honestly, I just can't wait!!!

Claire Marshall | 1 comments I met her a month ago and loved her! She is an excellent character. I told all my friends who read to read this book and some of her others. Can't wait for the next part

Lauren (ireadandiknowthings) (ireadandiknowthings) This is my first time meeting Louisa. I purchased this book about a week ago on a whim, I couldn't wait so I have already started reading it! I'm in love so far

Sophia | 1 comments Hello!! I met Lou and Will 2 years ago and I can't wait to read "After You" and see what happened to Lou! Keep reading and kisses from Greece! :-)

I felt the same way, Cristina. But the story Moyes continues in AFTER YOU makes perfect sense. I don't want to give anything away, but it's much more "real" than simply ending Lou's story with this book.

Wow! I think you are officially the reigning champion, Carla! Any thoughts on the movie casting? I have to admit that I am not a Game of Thrones fan, so I'm not familiar with Emilia Clarke. Do you think she'll make a good Lou?

message 32: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 25 comments I LOVE Game of Thrones! Emilia Clarke does a great job with her character on the show!

I watched a trailer for the "Me Before You" movie. It looks good; and I'm looking forward to seeing it later this year. Does anyone know when it comes out?

I finished the book late last night. I cried during a few different parts in the story. I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book. When does it come out?

That's great to hear, Melissa! The movie is currently scheduled to come out in June of next year. (Soo far away!) In the meantime, we'll get to read AFTER YOU. It goes on sale in the United States on September 29th, so it's just around the corner.

Melissa | 25 comments June 2016?!!! That is a long wait...

At least the next book will be here, soon. :)

Laura | 4 comments This is my second read through the book. We read the book for Book Club within the past year, and yes, I puddled up in public places while reading it, too.

I'll say no more to avoid spoilers. ;)

Isn't it though? I mean, it sounds like they're done shooting the film, so how long does editing take? Until then, we can content ourselves with AFTER YOU!

I'm sorry to put the spotlight on you, Lauren, but how are you enjoying your first read? Any thoughts you'd like to share?

Debbie | 5 comments I read this book the first time about 18 months ago and so glad to re-read it again before after you . The wheelchair bit made me hysterical both times . Thankyou jojo moyes

Debbie | 5 comments What I should have said about the wheelchair bit was when they were on the field with the wheelchair

Debbie wrote: "What I should have said about the wheelchair bit was when they were on the field with the wheelchair"

It's a little shocking how Moyes can make something so hysterically funny and heartbreaking at the same time. I felt that way about Will's tattoo.

message 41: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 25 comments I cracked up about Will's tattoo.

Debbie | 5 comments It was mostly about the drunken men swaying like plants . The drunk scene with the chair . I used to look after a man 50 with it & he was a replica of will . & the nicest man on the planet . Moyes made it so real

Wow. Were there any other scenes that reminded you of the man you worked with? Moyes gives us all a window into what life for a paraplegic must be like, but it must have really taken you back to read about Will.

Melissa wrote: "I cracked up about Will's tattoo."

I laughed about Lou's tattoo and how she said she would have to wear high-waisted pants for the rest of her life. I have a small one that I used to cover up with a bandaid when I visited my family!

message 45: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 25 comments I am going to re-read the book this weekend.

Sometimes, Lou's reactions and interactions with her family strike me as a bit odd; especially for her age. I'm wondering if my thoughts would be different on a second reading.

I have three tattoos. I never felt the need to cover them until recently... it all had to do with visiting my daughter's school.

Debbie | 5 comments Lot's of thing take me back , the trying to get him out , scratching for him , it's heartbreaking but all so real must have been an awful lot research for it , because it's as if it was the man I looked after

message 47: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 25 comments Debbie, how long did you have the caretaker job?

Debbie | 5 comments About 2 years , loved & hated every minute of it , be with me the rest of my like , he passed away about 6 years ago at 50 . His family said we gave him the will to live there was only the 2 of us because him & his family wouldn't have anyone else ,

Oh, Debbie. I'm so sorry. You must have so many powerful memories of that time. I hope that reading about Lou and Will gives you some solace--and makes you realize what a tremendous act of good you did in caring for him.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

Lou has me thinking about tattoos again. I have a small one that I got years ago, but maybe I need another? Do you have a tattoo with a special meaning?
