in all the Chem classes I've taken we've never really done anything with inches. sorry. that's something I'd Google to convert.
There's 2.54 cm per inch but there's a certain way to divide so you get that answer and it's just really confusing.
I'm taking Chemistry this year.
cm and inch are both same dimensions...for length. The 'x' cm per inch isn't the question, the question is what do you have to do with it? I'm kind of guessing that you have to convert this 'numeric' either fully into cm or fully into inch. SO here goes: (And if that is NOT the question, feel free to get some extra knowledge here :D)
Just remember this formula: 1 inch = 2.54 cm. Hence the phrase, 2.54 cm per inch OR 2.54 cm/inch. It's called something like unit factor, I guess.
So if the question is 7.62 cm converting into inches, write the solution as
2.54 cm = 1 inch
REMEMBER, the unit that needs to be converted must be on LEFT side.
1 cm = 1/2.54 inch ((2.54 went on right side as divide!))
The trick is ALWAYS to bring the left side at '1'
7.62 cm = (1/2.54)*7.62 cm = 3 inches!
Same with inches to cm. Example, 3 inches to cm?
1 inch = 2.54 cm
Here, the inch is already at 1
3 inch = 2.54*3 = 7.62 cm
Hope this helped. If it didn't, I'm sowy :P
Whoa. Neha, you're like, a genius.
