I like my kindle. I have a few hundred books in my bedroom that I haven't touched since I got my kindle. Good news is, I've read them all at least once, some three or four times.
I go back and forth between real books, Kindle app on my phone and Kindle app on my computer. I still love the smell of a real book.
I don't have the space for anymore book cases, so I use my kindle and app on the computer.....I just love books...I will go thru phases as to re-read some of my paperbacks and hard covers.....but I do like the kindle alot....it will go anywhere with me....
They have their pros and cons. But the kindle lets me read in the dark. I do most of my reading very early or late at night.
I do love real books, but storage space and price can be limiting. I can afford to buy, and therefore, read a lot more books on my kindle. Plus, as Jessica said, I can read in the dark :)
Everything's on my iPad. I refused to convert to digital reading until the iPad appeared and I could use it for my other work as well. Now all of my reading is digital.Best off all, my rescue cats can't pull our eBooks off the shelves and drag them into the litter box.
My office is tapped out for space. Probably close to a thousand books in there including heaps of paperbacks. I get new books on Kindle except when they have been written by people I know personally or talk to frequently on Facebook or Twitter. Those I buy in paperback, and I even took a plunge and paid bonus bucks for Joe Clifford's Lamentation in hardback. If the book is not available digitally, either through Amazon or Overdrive, I check it out of the public library. That's how I first read Elizabeth Xanay Holding, Vicki Hendricks, Charles Bukowski and others...
I love ereaders. I actually bought my first ebook back in 2003 from Baen's website when I couldn't find one of their books that had gone out of print in my local used bookstores. It was an HTML file that I copied to my Palm pilot. I do confess that I'm a weirdo who loves to read but never liked paper books. I have a strange aversion to the feel of some paper textures and the 'book smell' to me is kind of gross (I told you I was weird!). I've got an old Kindle 3rd gen, a Fire HD6, and the app on both my phone and tablet, as well as Google's Play Books reader for when I need to read and epub.
Look at us! Digital we go!
The other day I was at Subway and the show on the TV was the new verions of Boy Meets Worlds...whatsitcalled...Girl Meets World? I don't know, don't watch TV much, but the kids went to the library and the script was OVER THE TOP about how that was the place the aged used to put their wisdom. The kids had never seen an actual book. Like I said it was over the top, but a bit salient. We are a society going digital, and I think it's good. So much more space available when everything is 1s and 0s.

I generally prefer old-fashioned books, but I can see the merit in a device. I have a Kobo Touch, and it comes in very handy when we are traveling or driving a long way. I always need a book with me, so at least with an electronic device, I can carry several and not worry about being overloaded or running out of reading material!

What's your preferred reading device or do you like old fashioned books?
I have a Kindle Fire that I use to read, but I also have hundreds if not thousands of paper books I also read.
