Guys; this group is set up so you can add any book you think we should read to the bookshelf. Just click on the book shelf and add the book name into the search field, then set the start and end date and click to read at the top.

message 6: by Donovan (new)

Donovan I will most likely still be reading Manapul's Flash series and maybe Geoff Johns' Infinite Crisis. I just read Stan Lee's Amazing Fantastic Incredible, which I'll add to the December shelf.

Danielle (iamhorriblylimited) | 20 comments I want to start reading Rat Queens, but my library still doesn't have it yet.

I know some people liked Rat Queens but frankly I hated it.

message 9: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (iamhorriblylimited) | 20 comments I wonder what I'll think of it. I have a very unpopular opinion pf Sandman, tbh I hated it, and I seem to be the only one hah

Portia Di Venezia (portiadivenezia) | 6 comments I have read Rat Queens and thoroughly enjoyed. I like the twist of the protagonist being women.

message 12: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (iamhorriblylimited) | 20 comments That's why I've been wanting to read it. For that same reason, Lori. :)

Portia Di Venezia (portiadivenezia) | 6 comments There are a lot of graphic novels with strong female leads. I would like to read the new female Thor.

message 14: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (iamhorriblylimited) | 20 comments OMG there's a new female Thor!
I have enjoyed Ms. Marvel, and I have a stack of female comics on my dresser, just haven't gotten around to reading them

Portia Di Venezia (portiadivenezia) | 6 comments I have a stack too. Tell me what you have and maybe we can discuss what we have.

message 16: by Donovan (new)

Donovan I didn't care for Sandman either. I have a review of Rat Queens Vol. 1 if you care to know why I didn't like it, but the main point of contention is that the characterization is not in favor or empowering for women. Quite the opposite actually. But you can draw your own conclusions.

If you're talking about Jason Aaron's Thor Goddess I'm sure it's amazing. I'm on Aaron's Thor Vol. 3 and it's blowing my mind!

Portia Di Venezia (portiadivenezia) | 6 comments Hi Donovan. Yea, that is exactly the Thor I am talking about. I going to put that on my Christmas list as a "must have".

message 18: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (iamhorriblylimited) | 20 comments I will take a look at your review Donovan. :) I will have to check Thor Goddess out!

Lori, I have:
Batgirl: The Darkest Reflection
Wonder Woman: Blood
Elektra: Bloodlines
She-Hulk: Law and Disorder
Batwoman: Hydrology

message 19: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (iamhorriblylimited) | 20 comments I love The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl too. I am going to buy my own copy very soon. It is so good!

Portia Di Venezia (portiadivenezia) | 6 comments Unfortunately, I don't have any of those.

I have
Miss Fury
Rat queens 1&2
Ms Marvel
Captain marvel

message 21: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (iamhorriblylimited) | 20 comments I have Ms. Marvel and have read Captain Marvel. :)

message 22: by Donovan (new)

Donovan I'll chime in that Batgirl, at least Volumes 1 & 2, are awesome.

message 23: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (iamhorriblylimited) | 20 comments Awesome!! I am looking forward to reading it! Any other favorites you'd recommend?

message 24: by Nettie (new)

Nettie Danielle wrote: "I want to start reading Rat Queens, but my library still doesn't have it yet."

Can you request it by library interloan? I do that all the time. I really enjoyed Rat Queens, the first volume was better than the second (marginally) imo but given the what was going on with the artist, it isn't surprising the book suffered a little.

message 25: by Donovan (new)

Donovan Danielle...favorites? I may be in the minority but I LOVE New 52 Flash. It's one of those runs, though, that you need to know the character's backstory or you'll be super lost. Um...Snyder's New 52 Batman. Aaron's Thor 1 & 2 were good, I didn't love 3. Robert Kirkman (Walking Dead) has Outcast 1 & 2 are amazing. And if you're into pulp, Aaron's Southern Bastards. I've also heard great things about Dan Slott's Spider-Man.

I actually did put in an ILL request a month ago, but I am still waiting on it to arrive. :(

Thank you so much! I will check these out. :)

Sebastien | 16 comments I'll add my voice to Donovan's in regards to Aaron Southern Bastards and Snyder's run of Batman although I think it is loosing a bit of steam. Brian K. Vaughan's Saga, Hickman's East of West are pretty good as well.

Danielle: That is the drawback to ILLs, the waiting. I do it all the time so I feel your pain. :)
