Discuss chapters 17-24 only. Please do not discuss later chapters here!

Zezee (zezeewithbooks) | 5 comments I'm at chapter 20 now and am finding it hard to put this book down. My curiosity is seriously piqued because so much is hinted at with no answers. And I'm beginning to believe Neeve is evil. What bothers me though is that she was absent at the boy's reading and from how powerful and weird she is, I expected her to be there. Also, I just don't see the appeal of a dead king. I think we are given more reasons for why these kids are so drawn to a dead dude.

Jane (scribblerjane) I'm having a really hard time picking this book back up after stopping at Chapter 22.
For some reason I'm just not invested in the characters or the story. Is anyone else having the same trouble even this far into the story?

Jane (scribblerjane) Anna-Marie has really put my faith back in this book with her discussion in the last chapter. I'll pick-up this book as soon as I can, so can finish it before the October discussion~

Raquel V (raquelvcc) | 4 comments So, keeping in mind that I've been really enjoying this and having a hard time putting it down, I also feel this book is a bit unbalanced. There is so much tension, and heaviness, and mystery, but so far not enough lightness and answers. Even the extremely cute Adam and Blue parts are overshadowed by the fact that she will kill her true love, and that seems to be Gansey anyway!

Still, I can't seem to stop thinking about it... I can already feel this is one of those series. You know, that will constantly keep me up way past the time I should have gone to bed, and that get stuck in my head while I'm at work... Oh, well!

Btw, I think the dream tree is a tree that picks up on your fears: Blue's of loving and killing Gansey, Adam's of becoming like his father, Gansey's of actually finding the King.

Raúl López (latinlector) | 16 comments So things are definitely becoming a little more clear to me and I'm not as lost anymore which is good. Neeve definitely makes me uneasy, I agree with that. I really like Adam. I feel if the whole Blue and Gansey thing happens it may be forced at this point. I guess I'll just have to see what happens. I'm definitely still intrigued though.

Jessi These chapters have officially hooked me! That whole scene where they find the tree seriously knocked the wind out of me. It was so, so beautifully eery and emotional to me!
I agree with everyone that can't imagine how Blue and Gansey are going to get together. It's weird that we know this is going happen already! It makes it hard to get invested in the relationships happening now because you know they're going to change. Or are they????? I really like her and Adam and my heart breaks at the thought of him getting his heart broken down the road by her ending up with Gansey. Poor Adam!!!

I love Blue and Adam as well! Adam is just so cute and innocent and Blue is a force to be reckoned with and they are adorable. I personally do like the hints about her and Gansey though. If they rushed into that relationship as the first one, then it would feel forced but I think there's going to be a slow build up. They will both fight it until the last possible minute and those relationships are my favorite.

I loved the scene in the clearing with the tree. It was so atmospheric and really felt like the story was taking off. I wish Ronan would participate more. I want to know more about him and we find out the most during these "magical" moments.

Still not sure what to think of Neeve. That scrying scene was creepy. But I'm not sure if she's inherently evil.

I'm glad these chapters finally solidified this group as on the same mission, moving forward. Blue is a part of it and things can really get going.

Yeah this was the part where I felt like they were all in this together, moving on the same journey.

Jessi Yep! From the tree part on I couldn't put this book down!

Gwendolyn (apprenticenevermaster) | 2 comments The visions in the tree were amazing, especially since the vagueness of the description of Adams can't doesn't give us enough to guess with, just enough to feel the tension.

I'm also so in love with all four of the boys at this point, that I'm definitely in this series for the long haul. I didn't think I would warm up to Adam at first (he had a whiny feel at the beginning that I didn't like) and I didn't think I would get so attached to Noah since he has so little presence in most of the scenes, but oh... I am sold. The four of them together are simply magnetic.
