Paul parked the hummer, seeing Jamie's car near the front. In a few moments, Adrianna would be seeing her mom and brother who she hadnt seen in over three years. He shut off the engine patting his pocket again, glancing over to Adrianna's shocked expression. "That's the point of a surprise," he pointed out, squeezing her hand. "It's not too much, Adri! Stop stressing yourself. You'd be surprised how much me and Jamie's jobs rake in," he rolled his eyes, knowing Adrianna would probably rag about him spending so much so soon, with a baby on the way. "Come on, let me walk you in?" He offered, getting out of the car and buttoning his suit. He placed his hands comfortably over her eyes when they got to the entrance, ushering her inside the gourmet restaurant with smells wafting around pleasantly. He caught sight of two people that looked similar to Adrianna, standing by Emily and Jamie. Jamie waved, looking fresh in a new gray suit, winking at Paul as he held the family back from their long lost baby girl. "Ready?" He asked, his heart pounding.((Description of her mom and rother? I could play one if you wanted... Tia?))
Paul smiled shyly at her mom and brother, both of them aching to hug Adrianna. He hadnt said anything abou Adrianna's pregnancy, but did ask her mother for Adrianna's hand. "Surprise, baby," he murmured gently, removing his hands from her eyes to reveal the two family members standing there, their eyes wide at Adrianna's appearance. Paul had tensed for the reaction, hoping she wasnt cross with him for bringing them. Alejandro had made threats against their safety, but not if Paul could help it. He nodded gratefully to Jamie and Emily, crossing his arms across his broad chest only able to think about the one remaining thing.((Her mom or bro could say that Adrianna added weight or something and then they break the news xD and I'm gonna try to make the proposal really awesome!!! He's probably gonna e talking to her telling her about how great she is and why he loves her, bla blah blah, then he gets down on one knee!!!!! XD I love this part OMG))
((Awwwwww!!!))Paul felt his heart melt at the reunion, almost crying from the happiness the family had once more, the relief he could see in Adrianna's eyes. He stood beside Jamie, watching with his tongue bit between his teeth. He was ecstatic that his surprise was turning out well, but couldn't shake the unsettling feel from the brother. He could feel hatred every time Paul and him had eye contact.
The woman embraced her only daughter, her youngest, incredibly happy once again to be reunited. Some strange man had contacted her several times, claiming to be Adrianna's boyfriend, and she finally gave on to what he had to say. And boy was she glad. She squeezed the girls large torso, looking her baby girl over again. Adrianna was taller, with a bit more meat on her, her hair now long and wavy. Beautiful. "Happy Birthday,," she managed to croak through tears, refusing to let go of her daughters hands. She held on to her son as well, feeling uncomfortable as the white people watched them carefully, studying them. She could feel her sons arm tense, and she gave him a warning look.
Paul turned away from the boy, unnerved by how the brother was reacting. Would they get along, ever? How would he take the proposal, and the pregnancy? The last thing he wanted was for his brother in law to be furious with him all the time.
Paul felt his body tense up again as Andres shot him dirty looks, obviously not planning on letting Adrianna stay with him anytime soon. Talk about douche bag, Paul thought bitterly. We aren't going to let you go again, Paul mimicked in his head, feeling overly hostile towards this brother of hers. What a jerk. He couldn't stand the guy any longer and made a move to take back his Adrianna, when Jamie caught the back of his belt with two fingers. Jamie gave him a stern shake of the head, knowing that Paul would regret whatever he was to do and it wouldn't help any situations. Instead, Jamie cleared his throat loudly, flashing a smile to their group in the exquisite restaurant. There were few other customers, several watching with smiles on their faces. "Alright, our meal is due to come soon... Lets sit!" He beamed good naturedly, ushering the group to their large round table. He settled next to Emily and Paul, overall in good spirits. Paul hesitantly caught adriannwas hand, smiling timidly. He felt like he couldn't be his normal Paul self around the brother, too violated by the piercing eyes to say much in fear of judgement. ((Hahha yeahhhh xD))
Paul listened along with Emily and Jamie to Adrianna's explanations of her life since she had left, all four of them knowing that that wasnt all of it. Yet, Adrianna hid her stories quite well, leaving out the big parts. She had been quite vague about how they met, something about bumping into a police officer at an in n out. Her family was well off after Adrianna had left, prospering in their own little quiet home. His eyes shot up from his food when Adrianna's mother asked one of te big questions, his focus off of how he'd propose to her. Again. He looked back and forth between Jamie and Adrianna nervously. Taking Adrianna's hand uncertainly, Paul stood to escort Adrianna around the corner where they'd be hidden from view and given privacy. "Hey, is everything alright?" He frowned, ducking his head to whisper near her ear, his hands on hers. Something definitely was not right, and it upsetted Paul. Why did that situation have to be brought up at the table?
Paul took a step back in surprise at the force Adrianna put on him, the anger and disappointment flashing in her eyes. He felt wounded by her words, upset by her reaction. He had thought that she would be happy to see them for once, regardless if he liked her brother or not. Paul was silent the entire time she argued with him, her voice cutting through him. His efforts. "I'm sorry, Adri! I just thought you'd want to see them, I've set them up so that they're secure, and there's an officer obser-" he began, before the cold voice of andres cut through his speech. Again. He couldn't believe his luck, feeling like this night wouldn't turn out how he wanted, that he wouldn't get the chance to ask Adrianna the big question. Not in this mood. "Nothing, just stay out of this," Paul insisted, protectively squaring his shoulders to block andres view of his sister. The last thing he wanted was a fight, for everything I come crumbling down on him.((Ooh! I have an idea, maybe they could all fight and be unhappy and upset with each ther, and later before they go to bed Paul could be like all depressed and upset, and they could talk and apologize and he could ask her then? He could have thought that Adrianna was sleeping and he could have been playing with that ring too and shed be like WTF is that))
((AHHH DRAMA!!! @tia: if you want... I don't want it to get complicated and thy can't do much ATM))
Paul resisted the bubbling urge to react how he knew best, instead biting his tongue and clenching his fists in his pockets. He didnt like how the kid was talking to him, too stubborn for his own good. "I didnt do anything, andres-!" He snapped defensively, feeling Ill seeing how things were snowballing. Why did he have to go ahead and invite her family again? A simple letter would have sufficed. And now his girlfriend was cross with him, and would probably never forgive him if Alejandro got ahold of them. It was as if when ever Paul tried to do something good, it always hit the fan and backfired on him. It wasnt fair! The waiter eyed them suspiciously, looking a them condescendingly for having an argument in their restaurant, even if it was by the bathrooms.
((Maybe andres could start something with Paul? And they could fight Ben though Paul tried not to, and Adrianna's disappointed and upset and Jamie drives her home instead with Emily?))
((Fire andres up ;D it doesn't have to be ohysical it can be a verbal argument maybe a little physical that upsets Adrianna))((Poor girl lol))
Paul plopped himself at the dinner table with a faraway look in his eyes, his ship of hopes and dreams for that night on its way to sinking. Andres was already accusing him of something, and it wouldn't end well. He kept his eyes down the entire time, ignoring his little brothers concerned nudged under the table. Andres infuriated him, and it was a wonder he didnt slug the kid in the face when he had the chance. As their mother talked, Paul couldn't help but shoot up a heated glance at andres for ruining his night with Adrianna.
Paul chewed his food gloomily, having seen the spark in andres eye that lit into a roaring fire when he stood. Well shit. He resisted the urge to stand, held down by Jamie's hand on his thigh, and knowing that Adrianna would be highly disappointed with him. The waiter again glared at them with worried glances around the restaurant to the other customers. He'd hate toget banned from such a nice place, but at andres' continuing jerk comments made him stand up with his fist clenched tightly. "I don't give two f***s if you like me or not, andres," he snapped coldly, his jaw setting firmly. "Your sister didnt leave you for me, I met her- recently!" He corrected himself, refusing I admit the three month span they had known each other for. Maybe four. He was too exhausted and troubled by the whole drama to care that it was Adrianna's birthday, that he should put aside his differences at least until tomorrow. Paul sat back down brewing in his chair, before standing up again and excusing himself.
Paul's eyes met Adrianna's as he heard the slight falter in her voice that only he could catch, her eyes widened with fear as he caught the sickened feeling expressed on her face that he knew so well. Not now! Paul whirled around, pinning the brother to the wall of the expensive restaurant. He easily had size on this guy, but muscle might be andres. At least Paul was quick. Right? "No. No! You did that, you upset her on her birthday!" Paul whisper shouted, pushing andres forcefully for emphasis. "I don't care! I don't care! I don't care," he hissed, feeling himself start to go mad as he spoke, harsh tones coming out and slapping andres in the face. Paul grit his fists at his side, knowing that he couldn't fight due I the fact that his arm needed o heal, and that Adrianna would probably move out again. Forever. "You have no idea what she's been through, asshole!" Paul screamed back, gripping the kids shirt with his fists and shoving him forcefully against the wall.
Paul nearly lost his balance, patting his breast pocket briefly to test if his ring was still there. Not that it mattered, since he couldn't see him proposing that night. "I'm not unstable-!" He faltered, realizing with a start that andres was right. Paul was probably as unstable as it got, with his anger issues and sudden explosions. "Because I'm a cop, and I wanted Adrianna to be happy! I wanted her to see you guys, since she was always so distraught about it! But look what you've done, now she's upset!" He lied, knowing that Adrianna was most likely vomiting. Good thing servings here were light. "Its not me and you know it! You know it, andres, you just want someone To blame!" He howled, his fist raising o punch andres before he thought better of it, thinking back to the way Adrianna had tried to help him with his anger. Walk away. "You know what? F*** you, andres. I still love her, there's nothing you can do about it," he growled, turning on his heel to leave.((Adrianna could see the two at each others throats and then leave wih Jamie:) ))
Paul felt humiliation and hurt rise to his face as he inhaled, feeling a state of misery and failure wash over him. "Em..." He whispered as she walked away, sullen that she was acting this way. It had been a mistake to find her family, to have gone so far as to do exactly what she didnt want. Paul swore under his breath, catching Jamie's sympathetic look before ushering the girls into the car, driving away in. A hurry. Paul gave andres a final shove, tears threatening his eyes as he stomped back into the restaurant feeling himself being internally torn apart. He didnt expect to sleep in the same bed with Adrianna that night, or te next. Or the next. Why did things have to go downhill so fast, why could Adrianna be more understanding? Paul apologized for the chaos through grit teeth, paying extra for compensation to the pleasure of the waiter. Paul locked himself inside his hummer, ripping off his jacket in frustration before hearing a thudding. The ring box had tumbled out into the footwell, the velvety case illuminated by the moonlight peeking through the widows. Paul screamed in rage, pounding his fists into the steeringwheel and having a mental break down before driving off an hour later. Worst of all, he had ruined Adrianna's birthday. And that's what tore him apart the most. Paul arrived to a silent apartment, Emily and inside having ducked out of the way after good nights to their room. The dishwasher ran in the dark, the refrigerator humming. Paul undid his tie and white shirt, slapping his jacket on the counter and slipping onto the stool, resting his head in the fabric. Why couldn't he do anything right? Ever? Every time he messed up. Every time. Paul held the small box in his large palm, letting a frustrated tear escape his eyes. They weren't ready for this! What was he thinking? It'd be a few years at least until it was reasonable to ask her. Paul moaned softly into his jacket, closing his eyes to release a few more salty tears, wallowing in his misery.
