Unapologetic_Bookaholic Maybe you are already posting on the general thread. But this would be dedicated to discussing YA novels only. Thanks =D.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Delia's Heart by V.C. Andrews. It is a Library book. I am hoping to have it read before returning it. So far it is still as good as book #1. I love the character Delia. She is a girl from Mexico and I love that she had to learn English all the while she had to deal with the cruelty of a wealthy family treating her as if she is less than. Quite a heavy topic for a teen book.

I read the first one in the series, and thought it was cute. :)

message 6: by Literary Lusts (new)

Literary Lusts (literarylusts) I've been reading the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan and so far they've been fantastic. It's all based on Greek mythology and full of action and adventure. I know a lot about the mythology already which made it easier to follow but I would recommend them to anyone.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 17 comments Currently listening to the audiobook version of the first book of Cast's House of Night series, Marked.

So far, I'm enjoying it.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Well that is good. No crappy YA books so far! I think I will get the next in the "Delia" series by V C Andrews. I think they have it at the LIBRARY.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Shazzy: Let me know how you like it. I sometimes need a break from adult fiction and like the lighter side of YA. Harper Collins seems to be a popular YA publisher. I checked out their site and LOVED the excerpts!

Harper Collins Publishing

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Wow, good deal. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your book. I will keep checking in and see how is goes. I love discovering new YA authors.

message 14: by new_user (new)

new_user Read the Love is Hell anthology recently. Good stuff. :D But a little somber, LOL.

What kind of YA do you like?
A YA author that a lot of people havent tried, who I genuinely love is Tamora Pierce...
You should look at my young adult shelf on my profile. I have like 200+ books on there... LOL

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Joy: That is A LOT! I was reading a YA excerpt on Harper Collins site. I liked it. I believe it was called The Hunger. I;d have to look it up again. I like anything that interests me. But mainly fantasy or like teen issues with some sort of mystery. I grew up reading all those Chris Pike, Diana Hoh, R L Stine books. Teen Suspense and Horror.

Did you ever read "The last vampire" series by Christopher Pike?
I read it when I was about 12 yrs old, and really enjoyed it!

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Jo wrote: "Im reading The Summoning so far its pretty good "

Oh that looks good.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Joy: I don't remember reading "The Last vampire" by Chris Pike. I am in the process of re-reading Chris Pike though. I loved his books the most after R L Stine.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic I am reading Black Cat by VC Andrews but its on hold as I haven't been in the mood for it the last couple days. I do like this series though.

I was never a fan of R.L. Stine..."The Last Vampire" series, and Witch are the only ones I read by Pike...They were both great though... :)

message 22: by Lia RaeAnn (new)

Lia RaeAnn (myhappyending) I'm currently reading 1,000 Reason's To Kiss A Boy by Martha Freeman. So far it has been very good.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic When I go to the Friends of the Library for my job this afternoon I will go to the Library first to see if they have any more older YA. I always liked Chris Pike. I don't know if they will have his newest series.

Exactly. I made a few "buying this ____" shelves to keep track of all the books that are coming out in those months. That way each month I click on the shelves and pick which ones I want to buy. It saves a lot of time. :)

I loved the summoning [and I kiss the ground richelle mead walks on!!:] and my mum brought me the second Armstrong darkest trology book! Cant wait to start reading it, but I have library books that I have to finish first!

message 29: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) I love GR for a lot of reasons.
I joined mainly because I wanted to know what people thought of certain books, and I wanted to put in my own say!
But there are sooo many good things that come along with GR!

message 30: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 360 comments I'm currently listening to Flyte, book 2 in the Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage. I enjoy a fantasy book more if I'm listening to a good narrator who brings the characters to life more than I do just by reading it.

message 31: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I'm reading Identical by Ellen Hopkins

I'm quarter the way into A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. So, far I would say it is a so-so book but I'd hate judge it so quickly.

That is the first one right? Tell me what you think of it when you're finished.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic I got The Forest of Hands and Teeth v Carrie Ryan on reserve for after I finish my latest couple of current reads.

Not sure if this was a friend suggestion or a book I spotted in a random search.

It takes a little while to get into it. By the end of it, I ended up liking it! The second book is much better. I still haven't read the third one though...

Really? I thought the second one sucked. I found that it just dragged on and on and on.... and when you finally get to the good parts it over too quickly.
I'm not to sure whether I want to finish that praticular series. I may, when I need something to read, but its not a prioritie.
