Tess saw Miles motion to her to hurry up, and she broke into a sprint, grinning. She arrived at the swing set very quickly, but ungracefully face planted into the grass. Tess rolled over, uncontrollably laughing, unable to get up. Tess was laughing so hard because of her clumsiness. Her hair had grass in it and her glasses were crooked, but she didn't care.
Miles was obviously trying not to laugh. Tess finally calmed down and replied, "Yes," she said, still giggling a little. Miles bent down and fixed her glasses. "Yes, it was. And yes, I do," she grinned. "Could I have a hand?" she asked, outstretching hers.
Tess had Miles hand in hers. She listened to him, and pulled him down with all her strength, catching him off guard. "So," she grinned as she stood up, "How do you like being the one on the ground?" she asked with a smirk on her face. Her dad had felt like she should have self defense classes, so Tess had learned the basics.
Tess laughed and let him have her hand. She was pretty sure he would pull the same trick with her. But she didn't care. She tilted her head, grinning. "You're cuter right side up," she laughed. "But you're still pretty dang cute."
Tess laughed. "Wouldn't you like to know?" she asked, an eyebrow raised. She was quiet, staring into his eyes as he moved a strand of her hair behind her ear, then he traced her jaw. She laughed and sat down on one of the swings, pumping her legs to get it started. Tess felt the wind through her hair as she soared, feeling invincible. "Come on!" she told him, smiling.
Tess could tell that Miles was trying to get higher and she continued to pump her legs. Tess watched as Miles leaned all the way back, then looked forward again. He told her that she should try it, and she replied. "Um, no thanks," she said. Tess jumped off of the swings, landing on her feet. "I can't do that," she told him, shrugging.
She approached the play structure and climbed up from a rock wall. Tess then positioned herself, climbing to the top of the whole play structure- the roof of it. She did all this in about a minute, grinning at Miles when she succeeded in climbing it. Tess noticed her backpack still on the ground and shrugged. She didn't need it.

"I get motion sickness sometimes. I either get ridiculously dizzy or I puke. Or both. But it is not pretty," Tess winced, just thinking about how she'd have to be on a plane for several hours. It wasn't a pleasant thought, and she quickly pushed it away. Miles joined her at the top.
She then looked at Miles as he saw how high up they were. "You scared of heights?" she teased, bumping him in the shoulder. She let Miles grab her hand and she laughed. "A monkey? I guess so. I have more upper body strength, I think. But I love to run, so I don't know," she thought aloud.

Tess laughed when he obviously forced a smile, lying to her. "I should let you know that no one has succeeded in lying to me or in front of me, not even my sister. It's like a sixth sense of mine- a superpower," Tess told him, grinning. "I think no one is afraid of heights, they're just afraid of falling," she said, talking more to herself than Miles. Tess laughed. "Well it seems to me like you are more like your mother, but it'd be interesting seeing you at the ropes course."
((Lol whoops. Maybe just pretend like Miles brought him back to his cabin before they left for the ice cream parlor?))
Tess listened as he explained. "Falling can be fun as long as you know you're secured," she told him. Tess laughed when he talked about his father. "Well my dad would try to teach me to swim. Then the one time I actually tried to swim on my own, I nearly drowned. He was a bit frustrated after that as he tried to get me to go near the water, but I wouldn't even go on the sand. It just makes me freak out. I don't know how to explain it.." she trailed off, looking at the sky above the tree tops.
Tess laughed. "I'll take your word for it. And good luck attempting to get me to swim. Now that will never happen."
Tess laughed. "I'll take your word for it. And good luck attempting to get me to swim. Now that will never happen."
"Oh bonne chance, mon cher," (view spoiler) she laughed, not realizing that she slipped into French. "There's absolutely no chance I'm going swimming. I haven't even been able to take a bath since then, and I was four," Tess told him. "Plus I've always disliked the sand. I sometimes run on the sand early in the morning, but I won't go near the water." she said stubbornly.
Tess laughed. "Oh we won't be, don't worry. I'm not afraid of drowning," Tess told him, frowning. She didn't really know how to explain it. "Maybe I'm just afraid of suffocation. Or dying. I don't know. I've just never been able to look at water the same way- it just seems like a death trap," she confessed quietly, paying more attention to the horizon than her words.

She shook her head, obviously showing her stubbornness on the subject. "There's this magical thing called a shower," she laughed.
"Well considering suffocation was what nearly killed me, I'd rather not repeat that. I was able to gain consciousness after, but I woke in a hospital with a breathing tube. They said that they had to expel all the water from my lungs, and it was one of the worst feelings I've felt," she told him.
A look of realization painted her face. "Wait," she said, thinking. "So we just figured out I can do magic. Would my human lie detector capability be part of that?" she wondered aloud.

"I know you do," she smiled.
"It's horrible. It's nothing I would wish on anyone. I was a small child when it happened, yet I remember it perfectly. It was terrifying. I didn't talk to anyone for a few weeks," she confessed.
Tess blushed. "Oh you would've gotten on fine without me," she said, not thinking about it. "Near death experiences tend to come more than once for me, and I bet they'll come further in my life," she said, staring at the sky still.
Tess laughed. "Well considering I can be eavesdropping and still tell, I think that it's not just body language."

"It's over now. It's okay," she told him. "Merde Sainte, you do!" she exclaimed. Tess closed her eyes as she felt a light breeze, combined with Miles messaging her shoulders. It felt wonderful.
"You wouldn't know me or of me. You wouldn't have this experience to compare to. And there are plenty of other girls here," she pointed out. Tess blushed when he called her perfect. "Nobody is perfect, it's just how you perceive them," she said wisely. "I've noticed you know more about me than I do you," she observed, hinting that she wanted to know more.

"Well there's most likely not a girl here who is as clumsy and dorky as me," she laughed. "I tend to do that. I've noticed that I have told you more about myself- oh gosh I just don't shut up," she giggled.
"I don't know. Everything. Anything," she told him. "Maybe about growing up? After all you did live in a jungle a fourth of the year," she laughed.
Tess slid off of the play structure as best she could, trying to be careful. But she slipped and started to fall. She grabbed the pole that firemen would use, and slid down, landing with a thump. She began to laugh. "That was graceful, huh?" she called up, knowing Miles had seen the whole thing.

Tess gave a little clap when Miles landed. "Clumsiness is one of my more humorous qualities. You have no idea the struggle of going to events. I can barely walk down stairs without tripping, let alone dance," Tess shuddered. "The amount of toes I've stepped on is atrocious. That's why I convinced my mother to let me disappear after an hour or two."
Tess smiled. "I wonder if we ever saw each other in London," she thought aloud. "I've visited quite a bit, especially when I was learning English. I convinced my parents to let me go for my education," she laughed. "But I would ditch my tutor and just explore. The only reason my tutor never told is because she never wanted to be responsible for losing me."
A question appeared in Tess's mind. "Why did you stop going?" she asked him curiously. Tess stood up and walked over to the grass, laying by her backpack that was abandoned.

"Well if you haven't noticed, dancing is a form of torture for me. I absolutely hated it- dance lessons was the one kind of lessons I would hide from. The man teaching me would always say that my ballroom dancing was an absolute disgrace and that I should just give up. He quit and my parents never replaced him," Tess laughed. "I bet he hated it way more than I did."
Tess grinned. "Well you could always disappear with me," she suggested. "Well I was five years old when I started going. It's a good thing I had an emergency cell phone, or I would've never been able to find my way back," she laughed. "It was always one of my favorite places, besides Paris. My parents would often take me with them on diplomatic trips so I could meet the other royalty. It always felt like I left a piece of me in Paris," she confessed.
"Expectations really suck. Especially when they aren't coming from just your parents. It's absolutely dreadful. I love that coming here, you can just get away from all that," she smiled.

"Well I normally disappear to the library," she admitted. "It's the quietest place there, and only my mother and I normally go in there. We both have the keys to it. It's normally locked when we have visitors," she explained.
Tess laughed, squinting. "Yes, my eyesight is horrible. Now can I please have them back?" she asked. "Plus I can't see you clearly because I don't have my glasses on," she pointed out. "Wait, I think I still have your phone," she giggled. "So I kind of need them back to look for it. It's in my bag," she told him. "I put it there when you ran to go to the swings."

((I might not respond very quickly, as I am sick and have been sleeping literally all day. Haha))
Tess was squinting, looking at Miles. "What do you want to do?" she asked, a bit hesitant when it came to her glasses. Sure, she could get another pair, but she loved those frames.

Tess was a bit confused but her annoyance quickly melted away when he kissed her. In her opinion, it didn't last long enough. Tess grinned as he put her glasses back on. "How was it? You tell me," she said, laughing.
Tess laughed. "I'm always cold," she told him.
"Oh you are, are you?" she asked, tilting her head, trying her best to suppress her smile. "Well I wish I could say the same, that this has been the best date ever. But sadly, I can't," she told him quietly. Tess broke into a grin and laughed. "I'm just kidding," she confessed. "I'd give you a nine and three quarters. You better get that reference!" she exclaimed, poking him.
"Oh crapola," she said, scrambling to her feet. She put her bag over her shoulder and tossed Miles his phone back. "I got to talk about something important with my sister before I go. I'm sorry, I'll see you when I get back," Tess said, grinning. She stuck her tongue out and crossed her eyes. She laughed and returned her face to normal. "Au revoir, mon cher," she told him, waving goodbye. She broke into a sprint and ran towards camp. Tess didn't know if he would follow or catch up, but she needed to go, with or without him.
