Tess was nibbling on a blueberry muffin, a cup of coffee in front of her. She looked sleep deprived and depressed. She didn't bother to do anything to her appearance. No concealer, her hair not brushed, no mascara. Her glasses were on, and they were the only thing normal about her appearance.
Tess looked as if her whole life had just fallen apart- which it had, in a way. She wasn't who she thought she was. Everything about her life was a lie. Her parents said that no one but the castle staff and them knew of her origin. They told her she was still in line for the throne, despite where she came from.

Tess was staring into space, her bag at her feet. She had paid the man for her food, despite the dirty looks given, obviously because of her appearance. She took a sip of her coffee, knowing that was her only source of energy. Tess hadn't slept or talked in days. She hadn't even returned to the camp. She had been on her own for the past few days, not wanting to encounter her sister or her.. well, what would you call him? Boyfriend? Date? I don't know. But Tess had no interest in seeing anyone. Instead, she just sat there, forcing herself to eat.

Tess didn't acknowledge him sitting down, as she didn't see him. She was in her mind, not paying attention to the world around her. She widened her eyes and inhaled sharply when she noticed someone was there. The boy startled her. She finally noticed who it was, and tried to form her lips into a smile, but failed. Tess didn't feel able to, with the events that happened a few nights ago.
"Hello," she said, although no sound came out. Tess took a sip of her coffee and was finally able to speak. "Nothing happened," she whispered, audible but barely. Tess wouldn't meet his eyes as she knew she would begin to feel again. She just felt empty at the moment, and didn't want the wave of sadness and despair to hit her again.

Tess flinched when he covered her hand. The touched seemed so foreign and so hot. "Well it is," she muttered. Tess's eyes darted around the room, like everyone was suspicious to her. She had been cautious the past few days, being a run away. Tess's jaw flexed, obviously a bit upset and angry. "Tell you? That's the last thing I can do!" she snapped. "I can't tell anyone," she said, quieter. Her eyes were wide, obviously a bit afraid. Afraid of what? Herself.
She stood up from her seat and put her backpack over her shoulder. She grabbed her coffee and her muffin and headed towards the door, just wanting to leave before the water works threatened to burst.

Tess didn't pay attention to Miles until he was in front of her.

"Because I just can't!" her voice cracked and she wiped her nose on her long sleeved shirt. Miles's jacket was in her bag, as Tess wanted to feel the cold. The numbness. She put her coffee and her muffin down and collapsed back into her chair, covering her face with her hands, taking her glasses off. Tess put them onto the table and began to cry silently. "I can't," she sobbed into her hands. "You can't. No one can."

"I'm not a good person. You don't want to be around me," she cried. Miles wouldn't have been able to hear her if he wasn't so close to her. Tess looked up at him, tears streaming down her face. Looks of misery and desperation filled her eyes. She felt as if she was drowning in her own sorrow- just as she had been when she was depressed. "I don't even know who I am anymore," she whispered, her eyes glistening from the tears.

Tess wiped her cheeks with her hands and looked down, realizing her tears had been a bright blue. "I can't tell Darley. I can't tell you. It'll kill me if I do, and it'll kill me if I don't," she confessed, a look of pure sadness and fear on her face.

"It's not you that might leave, it's me," she whispered. Tess winced as Miles tried to smooth down her hair- she had bruised her head a few days ago. "No it won't," she groaned. "It never gets better. As soon as it does, it just gets worse than it was before."
Tess watched as he looked around the shop. She had become oblivious to what others were thinking, and honestly didn't care. She could tell he did though. She sighed and grabbed her things, heading towards the door, not looking to see if Miles was following.

((Haha I know.))

Tess was stopped and she grew a bit irritated. Then Miles hugged her and she stiffened. She remembered the feeling of him hugging her only a week ago, but it felt so different. Distant.
She had a confused look on her face, as if she didn't know what to make of the hug. Tess felt like she was there, but not really there, if that makes any sense.

((Sure! Where to?))

Elmon was sitting, biting his lip and staring at the wall beside his table, a full cup of coffee sitting beside him, untouched. Earlier that day he had spoken with Doc, the Camp's doctor, and he'd told him what exactly was wrong with the trees in the Forest. There were splotches of black rotting all over their trunks, and it was worrying Elmon terribly. He wanted to help, but so far he'd come up with nothing. Even the Doc didn't know what exactly it was that was eating away at their bark.

Shima | 322 comments Blythe had never been paticularly parcial to coffee drinks. In fact she hated the thing, but somehow she found herself wandering into the little cafe, full of nothing but coffee. All of her friends back home thought she was crazy not to like it, and sometimes she felt childish ordering hot chocolate when they ordered sophisticated sounding cappuccinos.

Blythe stood in line, reading the menu board, trying to find a drink that wasn't coffee related. She finally decided on a strawberry smothie as she drew nearer to the counter. After she had received her drink she searched for a place to sit, but found herself at a lost. All the tables were full with business people having meetings, or women gossiping. It was certainly too hot to sit outside, unlike the air conditioned restaurant, but there wasn't a free seat to be seen in there. Blythe finally spotted a table where a boy about her age sat alone. It was the best she was going to find, so she decided to approach him. "Do you mind if I sit here?" She asked.

Elmon looked up with a start, seeing a girl about his age looking down at him. "Um, what?" He said dumbly, then her words computed. "Oh, yeah sure, why not...let me just...there, here ya go..." He hastened to straighten the table and pull the mug of hot warm coffee closer to him.

The girl was tall, or at least seemed to be until she sat down, when she was about his height. She had chocolate brown hair that was slightly wavy, and sharp green eyes. In her hand was what looked like some sort of berry smoothie, like raspberry or strawberry, very unlike his strictly black coffee which clouded the whole table in the scent of fresh coffee beans. Must not care too much for coffee, huh he thought to himself, before saying: "Hi, I'm Elmon, you?"

((what color are her eyes?))

Shima | 322 comments "Thanks!" Blythe said to him as she sat down a the table. "Oh I'm Blythe by the way." She hoped he hadn't thought her to be rude not to tell him right away. Blythe finally was able to taste her drink, and when she did it was like magic. It was by far the best strawberry smoothie she had ever tasted!

"So do you live around here, Elmon?" She questioned him. After she did, she wished she hadn't. If he said he did, he'd probably wonder where she was from too. Which lead to all kinds of explaining, and she might end of spoil the secret of the camp. He must have already guessed she wasn't local by her strong British accent anyways.

"Hi Blythe, nice to meet you..." Elmon watched her take a sip of her smoothie, and judging by the expression on her face it must have been pretty good. He glanced down wistfully at a suddenly-not-so-appealing-getting-colder-by-the-minute mug of coffee.

At her question he looked up with a start. "Oh, yeah, well I'm actually from Jersey - uh, New Jersey, but I came here when my dad died, so, yeah I'm a permanent resident - for now, at least." He smiled wryly, then said after a moment, "You don't sound like you're from around here, what is that, British? Australian? I can never get those two right, they sound so similar...to me, anyways..." He thought for a moment, then decided to just wait her her to respond, he'd talked enough.

message 19: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "I'm from London," Blythe told Elmon. She was slightly confused when he had told her he was a permanent resident, since it was a town, but she had decided he must have to be from the camp too. She wasn't quite sure who's child he could be though. She had already found the children of Snow White, Cinderella, Belle and Adam, Merida, Hercules, and so on. This lead Blythe to believe that maybe Elmon wasn't even a child of a famous hero or villain, but rather some kind of magical creature.

Elmon nodded, then looked down into his mug, swirling it slowly. He bit his lip, then made his decision. He looked up at Blythe, his eyes narrowed, then leaned in confidentially.

"Are you from...you know..." He motioned vaguely in the direction of the hill to the west, just a few miles away from the coffee shop. "From the camp?"

message 21: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments Blythe leaned in too, and when she spoke it was in a hushed tone. "Yes." She replied simply. She leaned back on her chair, holding the edges of it as if to brace herself. It felt exciting to share a secret with this boy, hidden in this little cafe, in this little town.

Blythe took another sip from her smoothie. She had drank to much, to quickly, causing the cold to rush to her head which resulted in a rather painful brain-freeze. She touched her hand to her head in pain.

When Blythe said yes, Elmon leaned back in surprise. When he'd asked if she was from camp, he hadn't really known what he'd say if she'd said no, but he hadn't really thought about what he'd say if she said yes, either. He thought for a moment, then said, "Wait, but then why have I never seen you around the grounds? I've been there for years now and I've never seen you..."

message 23: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "I'm not quite sure. I am fairly new to going there, but it has been almost a month." She told him. It was also a mystery to her why she had never met him. Maybe they had just missed seeing each other on several occasions, probably nearly crossing paths. But it was peculiar, and Blythe was quite confused by it. "So what cabin are you in?" She asked Elmon quietly.

message 24: by Ruby, Director Elle (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 839 comments Mod
"Cabin Hook. You?" He replied. While waiting for her to answer, he looked down at his cup, then in one swift motion, poured the contents down his throat. He winced as he swallowed the cold coffee, but had decided to just get it over with, and so now he put the mug a little ways away from him, to signal the waiter he was finished. The waiter came, hurriedly taking the empty mug onto his tray, then went off to help another table.

message 25: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "Cabin Apple." Blythe told him. She stared at him as he drank the horrid looking coffee almost with a look of curiosity. She wondered how people could stand the bitter taste of it, even with a dozen sugar packets. It looked awful, almost as bad as it tasted.

"Cool..." Elmon noticed Blythe's look of curiosity and slight disgust. "Yeah, I don't even know why I drink this stuff," he said, nodding toward the leaving waiter. "So...um..." he looked around, looking for something - anything - to break the awkward silence. "Hey, er, do you mind me asking- who're your parents? Disney Parents, I assume, but other than that I have no idea."

message 27: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "Tarzan and Jane." Blythe told him. She certainly wasn't ashamed that they were her parents, but she felt a little weird just straight up telling him. She of course never told anyone in the real world, and whenever a camper had asked her in the past she had been kind of coy with them, but it had been easier to tell Elmon more then anyone else.

message 28: by Ruby, Director Elle (new)

Ruby (rubyyy) | 839 comments Mod
"Ah..." Elmon said, but before he could say anything else, he noticed the waiter who was supposed to be cleaning the table one over, but was clearly hanging on to every word, or at least trying to. Elmon cleared his throat and tilted his head slightly towards the man. Then he lowered his voice and said, "Hey, you wanna talk somewhere else? Like back at camp or something, where certain -" he cleared his throat again pointedly, "people can't overhear?"

message 29: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "Alright." Blythe said, standing up and pushing her chair. She grabbed her little messenger bag she had brought with her from under the table and her half full smoothie. "You ready?" She asked Elmon
