Recently I was talking to my hubby about on of my favorite religious/sci-fi/philosophical books ever, The Sparrow. I have recommended this book to every reader I've ever known. Apparently, Im not the only one who has given copies of this book away--Brad Pitt spent years getting into every hand he could!

Do you have a book that you tell everyone about? What is it and how did it capture your heart?

The Sparrow captured my heart because i was in the depths of a philosophical thought experiment about what if we getout into the galaxy...do we proselytize or shut the eff up about our religious views? I was a youngChristian with a heart full of desire to spread the love of God. This book definitely helped me address that wuestion from a particular angle.

She got me to read Sparrow a few years ago. Definitely worth reading.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I always tell everyone about "The Book of Negroes" by Lawrence Hill. It was wonderfully written, and I find it utterly amazing that a male author could write so convincingly as a female protagonist. It's a moving and exciting story, and one I definitely have a space for on my Keepers Shelf.

That is really cool, Margaret. I'll have to check it out.
