I was just wondering how many people played musical instruments, what they were, and how long you'd been playing them. I play the piano (very very badly because I can't read Treble and my hands don't work right) and the Trombone in my schools concert band. I've played it for 5 years now and I've just gotten super duper into it. I want to compete next year and be able to play in College. I also own a Ukulele but I just haven't gotten much practice at it.

I tend to collect musical instruments rather than play them, I like the idea of playing but the practice bit is where I fail LOL. I used to play the cello when I was little. Currently I own a violin, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and a clarinet I can play "Mary had a little lamb" on them all! One day I'll learn properly!
I play the flute, have been since I was about 9 or 10, but I always forget to practise so I'm not very good at it.. but it would feel weird to quit now since it's my last year (you're only allowed to play where I play when you're in school and I graduate in June...)
I have played the flute since I was 7 and stopped last year when I was 12 after finally doing my grade 1 exam. I'm currently learning guitar and ukulele .
I've always loved instruments but I'm not very good at playing them myself! I used to play the violin from the age of 6 to the age of 13, and I thought I was good but turns out I was the only one in my class that actually practiced :p I'd love to try and play it again though!I also play the piano, I've been playing for 5 years now, and although I'm not very good because I can't coordinate my hands, I quite enjoy playing!
I'd love to learn how to play guitar, but I don't know if that's a good idea since I'm left handed...
I play the cello and have been taking lessons for quite a while and I love it! I also play piano and the guitar, the latter very badly haha :)
Catalina, I think you're in good company here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_... I knew Kurt Cobain and Hendrix were left handed players but there are heaps of them!!! Easiest option seems to be to just restring the guitar the other way round. :-)

If I start taking classes I'll let you know!! xx
I play the flute, I started when I was about 10 and I'm working towards my grade 7 now:-) I've also taught myself piano and I'm about grade 4/5 standard, so yay XD
I would also love to play ukulele, would be so cool! And then I would be able to sing and play at the same time! I don't think they are that expensive either...
I play piano and violin, hopefully doing Grade 5 on both soon :) I can play some chords on guitar but that's as far as it goes haha x
I've been playing the piano for about 8 years, the clarinet for 6 years, and I just started to learn how to play the ukulele
I've been playing the piano since I was 7. I stopped playing when I moved to London but I recently started practising again after my dad bought me a portable one.I also play the ukulele, been learning since September 2013. It's quite easy to learn and like many other skills, you get better at it by practising.
I'm hoping to learn more though, hopefully the banjo, guitar, violin and/or drums in the near future.
I used to play the flute but I had to stop because of exams and revision :( I play the ocarina (badly) and I sing at a grade 2 level... but I wish I played the harp :( such a beautiful instrument
I have played the viola for seven years and I'm on grade five. I haven't took an exam for two years because I can't fit it in around school easily. I also play the banjo and guitar where I've taught myself. I've been playing the banjo for over a year and the guitar for a few months.
I play the piano and flute and I have my exams for them on the 27th of this month :-0 Scary times!! :-)
I used to play the babpipes. But now with all the university projects I can´t find enough time to practice.
I've played alto saxophone for 5 years and I started tenor this year! I also play a little bit of ukulele but I am not very good at it
I play the piano for about 9 years now.Guitar for 2 years
Ukulele for 1 year
I have gotten pretty good at piano, I can read music well and play songs as long as I practice and put time into it (I started piano when I was 5 years old so I wasn't really able to learn and completely understand how to read music for the first year or two, so that is what I struggle with the most)
Elizabeth: your exams are on my birthday! Therefore because its my day, I've decreed that you shall pass them. You're welcome :3
I have played violin for 7 years and the piano for 2 years.
i play clarinet and piano (grade seven) and recorder (grade five) and i am also teaching myself ukulele and guitar :) mt theory teacher has offered to teach me saxophone once i've done my theory exam! :D
I have been playing piano for 12 years and I started playing guitar three years ago. I also own a ukulele and a violin, the latter of which I sadly can't play yet.
I have played piano for 6 years. I played guitar for a year or so. I picked up the violin in 2011 but i didn't continue. I have been really slack with piano which is not good.
I used to play the Saxaphone when I was in Middle school. I quit though because I wasn't any good since I never had lessons, I just basically learned myself and through my band class. I've been trying to learn how to play piano on my own but I just can't get the hang of it haha. My problem is that I'm not that good at reading sheet music and I can't get my hands to move differently.
I play guitar, flute and ukulele, and I'm learning how to play piano. Exept the flute, I learn to play all instruments by myself, so if any of you wants to learn but can't figure out how, don't give up! It's easy once you've learn a little, just keep working on it! :)
I've been playing piano for forever but I'm not very good because I never practice. I do enjoy it when i do find time to practice, though.
I play piano but I don't get to practice as much as I like. I'm terrible at reading notes so I usually learn music in a combination of ear, marking up the notes, and memory. I mostly play for my own relaxation and enjoyment, and have recently started practicing more again. Right now I'm learning Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, and Le Moulin from Amelie the movie (that one I'm partly learning and partly figuring out by ear). I've dabbled in guitar a bit and hope to do it more over the summer as well, because I picked it up pretty quickly!
I play the Cello for more than 10 years and I have a grade 8 in that and classical singing! I also play the guitar for funzies and for just chilling around jamming with my friends.
I play violin (just did grade 7 - hopefully I passed!), piano (I've played for 7 years but I'm still not very good)and recorder (only in a group though). I'd love to be able to play guitar but I never have time to practice and I only know about 3 chords
When I was younger I learnt to play the flute but it's been such a long time I wouldn't have a clue now but I would love to learn how to play again.I'd love to learn guitar but I find it a tad too difficult so I'd like to learn the piano.
I"ve been playing the flute for 5 years now, and I've just started, over the past few months to play the piano.
I played piano for a couple years but then stopped because I was too busy...I've recently started to teach myself again and I can play a couple songs decently. I started flute at my school when I was about 11, I don't play at school anymore but I play by myself still. Last year I picked up my guitar again after not playing for about 5 years (my teacher was terrible...he didnt even teach any chords!), and I caught on pretty fast. I learned on my dads acoustic and my old 1/2 size nylon string, but I recently got an electric guitar for my bday! I also started playing ukulele last spring, which is my favourite! I started violin in September, and I play mostly Irish, Scottish and English folk songs. I've played cello for 3 years and I'm just getting ready for my grade 3 exam!
I used to play the flute. I started when I was 10 and quit after my freshman year. I decided to switch to choir instead. But those 5 years of band ended up helping because I can actually sight read choral music while most of the choir can't! I also wanted to start playing the oboe but I never had time to learn it :(
