Read something so funny you were rolling around on the floor and spitting out your tea because you were laughing so much?

Post away!

Wasn't sure which genre to put this in, but this book is the first in a series that is definitely LOL-able, (especially for writers!) but it has elements of alternative history and fantasy. WHATEVER. :)

This first book of the series isn't the best of the series, imo, but it is a great read. Main character Thursday Next has discovered that she is one of a very few people who are able to enter the world of books. Literally (ha-ha, get it? Literally?) She's a detective who has an early model genetically engineered dodo bird named Pickwick. She's friends with Spike Stoker, who battles the undead. Just to name a few of many wonderful characters.

Keep going with the series! They get funnier and funnier. Oh, and why are they especially fun for writers? Because there are lots of references to writing - after all, a lot of this takes place inside the world of books! Just for one tiny example - in a later book in the series, Hamlet (the real Hamlet of the Shakespeare play) accidentally finds himself momentarily in our world. But no one can understand him because he speaks in Courier Bold. :)

Review - Willakaville: Amazing Adventures of Astronomical Awesomeness
The story, language and the drawings are just wonderful. Yes, the stories are illustrated and that too in a very imaginative fashion. Not that the stories require any illustration.
