I tried to knock out my play with the audio of Romeo & Juliet over a long drive. But I bailed 20 minutes in when I couldn't hear the audio ... audibly. So still no progress for me. Thinking of switching up the books I have lined up so I can make some progress.
Last week I finished my book that scares you, book based on TV Show, book that takes place in my hometown, and 100 year old book. Had such a good reading week. This week I'm working on my book that I should have read in school. I can see why I put up a fuss back in middle school about reading it. Hopefully I can finish that by the next check in so that I can move on to something wayyy better.
Only 11 more prompts to go for me. Making better progress than I thought I would at this point in the year.
After several weeks of reading great books that did not fit any prompt, I am back to the challenge. This week I read my play The Miss Firecracker Contest by Beth Henley. It was ok, but plays are just not for me.I am still working on my book based on a true story, Circling the Sun by Paula McLain. I've been reading this off and on for several weeks now. Not sure why I'm not liking it - it has gotten such rave reviews. I think it is because I read Beryl Markham's autobiography West with the Night years ago and just loved it.
Anyhow, I have 13 more prompts to go...
This week I read Kitchen Confidential. This should fill my memoir category though I may do some shifting around of things as I'm trying to read some books I already own. It was pretty engaging and I love any body who is that passionate about food. But the first half read a lot like a conversation with that 35 year old that just won't shut up about how cool they were in college, how drunk they got at that frat party etc. It was irritating because I know Anthony Bourdain is a renowned chef and excellent food commenter so I just wanted him to portray himself as a professional. Over all a good book but I don't exactly want to meet the guy as much any more.

No progress here either Juanita. I'm slowly slowly reading a book by a favorite author I haven't read yet. It's a decent book, chick lit, but I'm finding other things to do with my time. The weather is beautiful here (finally) and I just want to be outside :) I might be on track to finish the book by next check in. I have officially fallen behind since I have only read 34 books and we are on week 36. I am ok with this!
I'm currently reading "King Dork" by Frank Portman for my based on the cover prompt. This one can easily fit my funny book or set in high school prompt if I didn't already read books for those categories. I have a few books in my reading pile, but I'm not sure which one to start next.
I finished my book with a color in the title: Three Silver Doves
by Deborah Garner. It was a good read, mystery was challenging, enjoyed it.

I read Bird By Bird by Anne Lamott (book by an author you love but haven't read yet). This woman is amazing, and every writer should read this book.
Happy reading to you all!
