Hello!

I have $20 in Inkshares credits. I've pre-ordered quite a few books, and I need help finding more. Now is a good opportunity to practice that elevator pitch if I don't already have yours (or even if I do.)

message 2: by Rick (new)

Rick Heinz (crankybolt) | 72 comments Which is your project? I have... a lot... of inkshare credits. If we already grabbed each other, give it to someone who needs it. If we haven't, let's take care of that now good sir.

I'm the Seventh Age. Aren't you The Lost Generation guy?

message 3: by Joe (new)

Joe (jterzieva) | 178 comments Mod
I am the guy. And as much as I would appreciate more sales, even if I pre-order your book I'd prefer if your money was spent getting someone else's book closer to publication.

If you do legitimately like what I am doing with my story, however, feel free to pre-order the book. Each one helps push that magical writing dream, but I don't want people to buy out of obligation.

Rick Heinz (crankybolt) | 72 comments Gotcha. Well, then my simple elevator pitch is this to you:

You seem to have themes of inequality, labor divides, and a post modern world floating around in your head. While you use science, I use magic, but touch on the same themes. For this reason alone, I feel you might enjoy The Seventh Age :).

(Also, as someone who works on machines for automation as a career... I will be picking up your book at some point, but for now I am gonna save these Inkshare credits for people getting close to the goal of funding).

Joe, you're so great.

I think you've probably pre-ordered a lot of the books I would recommend (you jumped right on the Teal Book of Oaztaltia, which I can already tell is going to be awesome) but here are some interesting ones:

I pre-ordered Numb earlier today. That book had me on the gifs alone. It looks like I have quite a few to review tonight (after I've met my word count.) Keep the books coming, I've also mentioned this thread to others who have credits to spend, so if you have a book, pitch away!

I'll make some pre-orders tonight. That will give people time to post.

Amy Boukair (amylboukair) | 1 comments Feel free to throw some extra credits my way! Could use the support! I follow back when I have credits. :) https://www.inkshares.com/projects/shade

Modern Day Mages at its best.

The Blurb: Shade Blackmore and her brother Flynn are Regulators for the Mage Guild, one of three magical guilds hidden in plain sight of our normal human world. A routine job goes awry and injures Flynn, leaving Shade a mystery to solve.

I just received more credits so more pre-orders! Also, Amy, you have a book that is time-travel romance, AND it is available right now? I'm checking that out, and I'll check out your currently funding book.

Today has been a good day for referrals. I now have 70 dollars in credits.

I'm going to hit my word count for the day then check out some works and make some purchases!

Oh, I did not have it yet. I have rectified that. I thought I had all the S&L books.

Alright, I dumped some cash and credits into the machine, and I'm looking forward to what comes out!

Also here is a book that was not mentioned, but I think might be a hidden gem. I found this through the introduction thread. The system works!

message 16: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Arnold I'm pretty sure I have pitched to you before, but always worth a second try. Especially since I don't have a 140 character limit.

Take a dash of sword and sorcery, sprinkle it over a filet of world building, and cover that all with a fine sauce of family and relationship drama. That is how I tend to think of my book, following the main character Pentaz as he tries to cope with abandoning all he has ever known and heading out into the wider world where he is forced to face off against various threats such as ghosts, werewolves, a dragon, and most harrowing of all his own emotional problems and a loudmouthed brother.

https://www.inkshares.com/projects/ex...

Ehh, I cringe a bit at that pitch. I'm still so horrible at this.

message 17: by Rick (new)

Rick Heinz (crankybolt) | 72 comments Heheh... Let me help you out:

Thomas ACTUALLY uses underused fantasy tropes. He's got friggin GNOMES as heros. That's rare. Clockwork Golems.

He pays attention to the smaller, underfoot advantages and disadvantages that offer a unique perspective on fantasy heros in a traditional epic fantasy environment.

Just don't fault him for tossing up 6 to many chapters..:P What are you at now Thomas? 12?

message 18: by John (new)

John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments I need to get to 2,501 pre-orders, so by all means if anyone is looking to spend credits, I'll anoint you with dragonfire. Seriously. But one caveat: only spend on me as a reflection of how much you want the book published.

Other than that, I have suggestions:

The Hellfire Rebellion. This is a great book and it deserves far more backers than it's got, so I'd love to see it get some momentum: https://www.inkshares.com/projects/th...

message 22: by M.U. (new)

M.U. Zaetl (ruzaetl) Hey there, Joe! If you're still looking for a spot to offload some of those credits, my book could use some support!

The Great Unlife

A dark fantasy/science-fiction hybrid, The Great Unlife tells the tale of an old and powerful wizard who goes in search of a device from the distant past that may hold the key to immortality. Along for the ride are his two best friends- one of which is a nightmarish werewolf, and the other a flesh construct - a tiny kobold, a mysterious green dragon, an eccentric and garish mage, a pair of exiled dwarves, and a sadistic entity that lives in the wizard's mind.

You can read the first ten chapters of the book right there on the Inkshares page!

message 23: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Arnold @Richard, depending on your definition of a chapter I may have as few as 7 or as many as 21+ currently up.
Plan to do a bit of cleaning on the project this weekend to make what I post actually read in the correct order.
Also can't wait to post up part 5 so I can introduce everyone to Kitden, my favorite forest gnome. So yeah, probably gonna keep posting way too many chapters. I may be addicted.

message 24: by Yicheng (new)

Yicheng Liu (liu0019) | 229 comments Hey Paul, do you want to check out my book? I'm not sure about the quality of the story, because as the author, I think my book is pretty good and would well worth the credits that you'll virtually burn.

Larger than life conspiracy had been an idea that I had liked for a while now. A more or less humorous story with deep characters mostly sharing a tragic past. A science fiction thriller story of characters struggling against a conspiracy.

I had thought that sounds pretty good. So I had written it down and posted TWO chapter for you guys to read for the sake of your amusement. Preorder now and rejoice in the luxury of a wallet that is magically lighter by $9.99!

message 25: by Ken (new)

Ken McCoy | 4 comments If you have the spare credits, consider pre-ordering a copy of Hellrazor: it's The Shadow meets The Eternal Champion. Gaius Cassius Longinus is the Centurion who pierced Christ's side (yes, that Messiah, that garrison soldier, and THAT spear of destiny). Washed in the Savior's blood, he is made immortal, equally blessed and cursed to walk the earth until the Second Coming.

Betimes, he becomes The Hellrazor and goes to work on eradicating all the Nephilim and their offspring who managed to survive the flood (yes, THAT flood), and are still lurking in the shadows, coaxing men towards evil deeds and seeking dominion over Creation.

So, down through the ages, Longinus has been a pilgrim, warrior, witch-hunter, giant slayer, exorcist...even a King called Arthur.

Check it out if you have a minute.

CoRy | 28 comments Again, seems like I am always late to these digital social gatherings.

Since the last post is now almost a month old, maybe I shouldn't--

aww what the heck.

https://goo.gl/u2qLg5

Mine is a story of two timelines, one world of present and future. To avoid losing his life at the hands of a sociopath bike gang leader, John is forced to relive his dream of a decrepit future where he is tied to the events--universal decimation--if he does not make the finish line all is lost. Consumed with pain, both physically and mentally, John must stay on track; the pathways of his brain are starting to break and the correct way is the wrong way? Time to take a U-Turn at the Next Synapse.

Have a look and enjoy my fray. Yes, I did actually have the dream I mention. Only recently did I realize how much turmoil was life was in while I was experiencing it. More in my bio. Just have to click the link.

message 30: by Mykl (new)

Mykl Walsh (RFSaunders) | 149 comments I like the idea (I think John Robin first expressed it) of pushing titles that are 3/4 or more of the way to their funding goal and having all of us gang up to support that title. Then rinse and repeat with the next closest project.

This assumes we genuinely like the project or that it is at least not objectionable to us in some significant way.

We can individually decide to take on a pass on any of these projects while still agreeing with the general premise of "gang activity".

I like this because with each successful project, the gang grows in size and will eventually become a force.

Closing this thread. I created it a while back when I had some spare credits, but they are long gone. I do however follow any book that pitches to me on the site and will buy the ones that catch my eye, so feel free to send me a pitch on the site. I'm fairly proactive, though. Unless your brand new odds I'm following your book already.
