1134 Holy Lands: 9th member is a woman who meets with the last survivor of a muslim fort. She discovers the man to be 525 years old and he carries the Bachal Isu, the staff of Jesus Christ. She kills both the man and the commander who led the forces to take the fort.

This story also begins in the future with Pierce pulling the trigger on President Gant from afar.

Given Rolins's Veterinary background, I suppose it was only a matter of time before one of the intelligent animals in his books becames a POV character. In here, Kane has a few instances to showcase his talent.

There seems to be no true formula for how Rollins breaks up the team and accomplishes goals for each novel. Back in SS, everything was extremely linear. Others such as JS were both local and global, but come tgether in the end. DC had two teams eternally kept apart. However, it does seem like the preferred method is multiple groups going about their business but all ending up together in the end: All roads lead to Rome.
