Diana | 141 comments I know, I know, it's not even October yet. BUT I've started to plan my project for NaNo this year and am getting excited!

Here's the place to chatter about your characters and stories, link playlists and inspo boards (I've started one of the latter), ask for writing buddies or promote writing sprints, and everything else.

Ashe | 69 comments look planning early is the smart thing to do

Diana | 141 comments Speaking of which, let's build character(s)!

Leah Nymja | 121 comments I'M READY (i won't be doing the 50k, but i will be doing the nano in a participation-trophy sort of way)

I'll be working on my evil!magical!scientists urban fantasy book Thaumatology. I have a pinterest board and two playlists: general, playlist for my protag.

Also, I really like making playlists for fun, so if someone would like one made for their project (or just for writing) let me know :D

Diana | 141 comments Oh man, Leah, I'd love to see what you do for my project. It's a lesbian romance set in Kentucky, so my own playlist so far is veering toward country-western/folk lady singers with a heavy emphasis on goopy and sexy. NOT really my general wheelhouse for mixes. :B

That sounds amazing and I am ON THIS.

Jess (jlko89) | 112 comments I'll be working on my period vampire hunters piece that I started for Camp NaNoWriMo in July. I've done some revamping (ha) of the plot and setting, so there's less of the historical romance novel trappings this time around. Next month, I'm planning to start serious revisions for what I wrote in July so I can have a good head start into the story for November.

I'm trying to decide if I should work on my Redcoats story. I have a long way to go as far as developing plot and characters and sadly I don't know if this will be ready in time :( Maybe I'll jump in with some short stories (in solidarity) if I can get some inspiration

Ashe | 69 comments I'm going to be rewriting the story I started for Nano last year. 3 very different girls, tons of misleading and mischievous gods, and the end of the world looming down their throats. Yay for second drafts.

UGH DON'T LOOK AT ME i am not prepared at all

i am trying to get my current draft into coherent shape so i can just start from the final most point and keep writing, instead of confusing myself by trying to count words after sliding them into gaps.

it's...going. slowly. sort of. (also here is my nano account!)

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

oh I am in no way prepared. At least I have names for my characters? Yeah.....

My account is here :D

pantsing your way through nano is a great way to vomit all your ideas up tbh! think of it as less of a first draft, more of a pre-draft

ofc some people might be better writers than me :'D i have usually found that a brand new idea for nano is a great way of finding out what doesn't work in a short time period

Diana | 141 comments I feel like I've been prepping for this for entirely too long. IT'S TIME TO WRITE.

Speaking of which, what are you guys composing in? Everything I've written to date has been in GDocs, but this time around I'm using Scrivener.

message 17: by Jess (new)

Jess (jlko89) | 112 comments I feel like I'm better prepared than last year, but am in no way, shape or form motivated at all? I was super busy last week at work, so that's probably where all my energy went. Maybe it'll kick in once November is FINALLY here.

I'm using yWriter, the off-brand Scrivener writing program. I used it last year and this year during Camp NaNo. I like it a lot! When I'm at work, I just use Word and then C&P in the yWriter file later in the evening.

Leah Nymja | 121 comments im boring and old school, and just using MSword. though i usually throw it in a gdoc so i can force people to read parts

message 19: by Beck (new)

Beck | 25 comments my nano page :D, im so pumped for this year.

I have tried like ten times to use scrivener but i think i need to actuall start a project in it rather than switch over halfway through.

so i'm going to be using gdocs! that way i can work on stuff on the bus etc

Jess (jlko89) | 112 comments After a terrible first day (thanks Halloween hangover), I got mostly caught up with my word count yesterday. I think having written some version of the story for Camp NaNo in July is helping loads. I've got a better grasp on what I want to write and how to write it.

message 22: by Diana (new)

Diana | 141 comments So, how did we all make out? I was rereading on Saturday and found a scene in my GDoc that happened twice in a row (copy/paste mistakes YAY!), so had to write something new to make up that lost chunk of word count. But I did finish, and I'm looking forward to revising...extensively.

message 23: by Diana (new)

Diana | 141 comments Hi friends! The romance novel I worked on during NaNo is available to read. Is anyone else revising or posting their projects?
