We’re fast approaching the end of The Pirate’s Wish, and, by extension, the end of the first duology! But that’s okay, because The Wizard’s Promise is coming out this week in the UK :)

Your recap:

Chapter 12: Ananna and the rest of the crew find themselves idling away their time in Jokja. Marjani doesn’t want to leave, and they are at an impasse with the starstones. But then, while visiting the coast, Jokja is attacked by pirates…

Chapter 13: Who turn out to be Ananna’s parents. It also turns out that they were the ones who stole the starstones in the first place. Naji attempts to hold the stones, skin against stone as the cure says, and falls into a deep, magic-induced coma.

Chapter 14: Ananna cares for Naji in his comatose state, which mostly entails fending off Jeric yi Niru, who wants to study him. A trio of Jadorr’a finally appear to help bring Naji back—with some help from Ananna.

Chapter 15: After the experience with coma, it’s clear that Naji does genuinely reciprocate Ananna’s feelings, and they stay in the palace as he recuperates. One day a bird drops off a mysterious note which says that Naji is the debt of the King of Salt and Foam. After dome debate, they re-assemble the crew to investigate.

As always, feel free to discuss these chapters as much as you’d like!

Rachael Garza | 5 comments These chapters have some of my favorite parts of the whole series. I liked seeing another side of Marjani, I liked seeing Ananna's parents again and what they thought of her adventure, and of course I liked the aftermath of Naji's experience with the starstones when they're happy together.

Monicha (monicha_stark) | 28 comments I have to agree with Rachael, I really enjoyed these chapters.

When discovering that the pirates where Ananna parents, I really thought that tied in nice. It was a chance for her parents to know that she was alive and well. Also get to meet Naji. Her Mom is very smart and sees that there is obviously a connection with Ananna and Naji other then the curse.

When Naji touched the stones, it was a little terrifying. Though, really happy that he didn't end up as a pile of ashes... Though with Ananna reaction to it it was like he was just ashes.

Back at Jokja when Naji was in his coma, I loved how Ananna did everything she could possibly do to get him better. When the assassin showed up, she tried to fight them, like that went well, and protect Naji. As the assassins attempted bring Naji back, they realized they would need Ananna to find him. When she went to find him, she did, along with the want of food, water, and her. :D yaya! She was completely beside herself about it all. Didn't know if she thought that was right. Then Naji awakes... awwww... He wanted her next to him, the assassins left them be. He said thank you to her, for her care and finding him, and kissed her... YES!!!

That was all I really needed to read, once that was done, I was really content. I just needed to know that Naji did care for Ananna, it would have been a heartbreak of he didn't.

Then the journey to Salt and Foam. Was very side tracked with this, no idea what to expect. Though the thought did come that it was a kind of trap..

So mostly what I liked with these chapters was that Naji did have feelings for Ananna. Now I just wonder how life with goes on.. I guess that will be in the next couple of chapters.
