The Assassin's Curse Re-Read discussion

A tale exploring Marjani's first steps beyond Qilar, when she is dismissed from her home for scandalous behaviour.

Marjani's ship is stolen by pirates and, in order to save her own life, she pretends to know the location of great treasure.

Marjani is one of my fav side characters (OK, I have a few fav characters, but she is up there in the list). We get to see how she became a pirate. I really liked it.

Yay, I'm always glad when people like Marjani. She's one of my favorites, too.

So I just read this the other day and it was very interesting. I liked it a lot, but very different then what I had in my head on how Marjani got into the pirate world.

Love the magic of it all- just imagining it all. It was a fun read.

Very spooky on how she gets kind of tied in with the Mists, but not understanding what they are until later. That would have been scary to find out to me.

Anyways, I really enjoy short stories. And that was a full package for so few pages.

I decided to read the two short stories before diving into The Pirate's Wish. I liked them more than I liked The Assassin's Curse.

The one question I had was why the pirates didn't kill Marjani at the end. Is it simply because she got something out of the trip, the reward?
