Throne of Glass Read-a-Long!
This is my first read-a-long, I'd love to join! my twitter is @MicahLee_19
Are you going to be using a hashtag to keep the conversation together?
Emma wrote: "aw man, i'd like to do this but I don't really use twitter :x"I'll be posting updates on here as well. Twitter will just be used as an easier way to get updates to people :)
Topher wrote: "Are you going to be using a hashtag to keep the conversation together?"#ToGReadalong Sound good? I usually tag most of the bookclub things with #littlebookclub as well.
I'm up for it. It sounds really exciting since it's my first read along and I haven't read Throne of Glass yet!!
Just finished chapter 4! I am really liking Celaena as a protagonist, and Dorian seems like not your ordinary prince. Can't wait to see where this story goes! Also, really like the descriptions. It makes me excited to read about the Glass Palace and what that might look like!
Very intriguing start to the book. I am probably going to start chapter 5 at midnight. Just so I don't feel like I'm cheating the schedule. haha.

I really like the set-up of Chaol Westfall. I hope they explore his history.

Silly question:4/10 - Chapters 13-15 Does that mean I should have 13-15 done on the 4th or that on the 4th I should be reading 13 - 15? I want to make sure I am on the same page as everyone. Thanks.
Chapters 13-15 read! Really enjoying this so far! The story is picking up, and I'm really starting to connect to the characters.
I'm so curious about Chaol!! I want t find out his story 13-15 read
Done 13-15My copy says "Fans of Game of Thrones and Hunger Games will love it!" I thought that was an odd statement but now it makes sense.
I want to know more about Sam. Am I the only one who thinks Nehemia has got something up her sleeve?
Chaol is still awesome, but Dorian seems way too childish to deserve Caleana.
chapters 25-27 read (I got a day ahead of myself- oops!)

Agree about Sam. I assume it will come with time.
And definitely think Nehemia is going to turn out to be all sorts of princess badass.

Done 25-27
Agree with everything you said Micah. I wouldn't be surprised if Nehemia is the one killing everyone...
I have one more chapter left for today, but I really don't want to stop reading! The competition, the mysterious murders, the supernatural elements. I need to know! The characters are developing nicely, though I do feel like every male who meets Celeana falls for her is a tad cliche.
Still loving it so far and really don't want to put it down.

I think it's the gargoyles. They're totally guardians to the magic relm or something. because they said all the fae just vanished and are immortal. So something is slipping through because they're opening portals. I dunno. I'm getting a real "The chamber of secrets has been opened" vibe from all the killings.

Indeed, it's slightly annoying to read.
Still waiting to find out Chaol's backstory!

I also think Nehemia may be the killer. Thanks for putting this read-a-long together. I have never done one before. It is keeping me on track and getting me through a book I had always meant to read. :)

No problem! I'm having a lot of fun reading with all you too! It's definitely helpful to get through a book even with a busy schedule :)

Hmm true the fae are definitely vanishing through portals
Done 28-30 now I'm starting to think it's the gargoyles as well as Nehemia!
*ahem, coughs, super embarassed* Well I got bored at work today (I work at a my university's library) and... well... I accidently read to chapter 41 without realizing it. Oops! I'll just watch and wait in this group for a couple days!
Chapter 34 has been read! And it took all my willpower to stop. Frankly I'm suspicious of everyone at this point.

Nearly finished all the reading for today. In the poisons task I was sooooo hoping that Maas had made the 'water' goblet full of Iocane powder. Would have totally made my day >.<
Claudia- I was thinking Cain might be the killer, but then I think he might be too obvious? Like he would be too easy- I smell a plot twist around the corner
Just finished reading Chapter 42.
It is getting harder and harder to put this book down.
I need to know what is going on with Nehemia!

Ok ok I'm up to date. And omg. I don't want this to end. That duel was epic to say the least!Might I add that I'm insanely in love with Maas' writing style? I love the way she describes everyone's reactions. It all seems so accurate. And I was so over the moon that she put in the fact that CELEANA IS A WOMAN and thus has a period. I don't think I have EVER read a book with a period in it before. I actually squealed in delight at the inclusion.
Basesloaded32 wrote: "Why does nobody knock when they go into Celeana's room? Isn't that rude?"I guess because she's still sort of a prisoner? Although in the chapters from today someone DOES knock and then pisses off because she doesn't answer - so that's interesting.
I know what you mean though about people just walking in xD
Finished the book a little ahead of schedule because I have midterms the next couple days. Awesome ending, great set up for the next book, that's all I'll say until everyone else finishes :)

It took me a while to warm to it (possibly because I was reading multiple other books over the read-a-long) but after a couple chapters I was hooked. Fast paced, but still has heart.

I've posted up a thread for read-a-longs (check it out for more in the future).
We've decided that our first read-a-long will be Throne of Glass starting on the 1st of October!
That gives everyone plenty of time to pick up a copy if they don't already have one!
I'll be running most of this through my twitter (@captivheart). There will be checkpoints to read to certain points by certain times. At the end of each week I'll check how everyone is going.
If you want to join in, just comment below and make sure you're following me on Twitter!
Below you can also discuss the book and how you're finding it. Everyone should be up to about the same spot so we will be able to really experience everything as a group!
