haha literally reserved this book about 5 minutes before you posted that reply. Is the last book not great then?
Demonsouled by Jonathan Moeller. The first book is free at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.http://www.jonathanmoeller.com/writer...
I second Anthony Ryan's Bloodsong it is the first book in the Raven's Shadow series. Also John Gwynne's The Faithful and the Fallen series. These two series have coming of age stories for the main characters and some of the best sword fighting scenes that I have read.
Well if you really like swords, this may be the best suggestion i have. It is a really nice and fast paced trilogy. House of Blades

One thing the book must include is sword fighting in some form, I'm not interested in demons/vampires etc. I like sword fighting in which the characters use magic as another tool for their arsenal.
The main book series I have enjoyed-
Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss
Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
Codex Alera by Jim Butcher
As you can see I quite like a coming of age story where the protagonist starts young with their wit, but without any particularly obvious amount of power and then becomes well perhaps the strongest character in the created world! It doesn't have to be a young protagonist, but it is something that I have come to enjoy with my book choices.
So basically- magic, sword fighting and no weird demons/vampires.
I look forward to any suggestions!
Thanks,
Lewis
