Diaspora by Greg Egan blew my mind. As the characters moved from virtual reality to higher dimensions, the story got weirder and weirder. Loved it!

In a good way, Mary Doria Russell's The Sparrow - completely bizarre and totally engaging. On the other hand, I find Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace to be so off the wall strange that despite trying three times, I haven't made it past the first 150 or so pages.

I finished it about a month ago and thought it was okay. The concept was interesting, but at times the story got bogged down in what felt like academic proofs of special and general relativity.
For me, without a doubt, it's
Image of the Beast: An Exoricism: Ritual One by Philip Jose Farmer. I'd call it his ode to SciFi porn. A couple of the scenes were truly, unbelievably shocking. Personally, I've never written anything that comes close in terms of the bizarre nature of this book.

I'll keep an eye out. I read quite a few of his books a while ago, but none of them compared to Diaspora for me.
