I'm doing a Holiday Month... here is my plan...
October: Halloween
(Rereads)
Bunnicula by Deborah and James Howe... read this is my pre-teens and really liked it.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz... The kindle edition I got doesn't have the original illustrations, but I remember that the stories were still good. Not as great as the pictures, but still good.
The Phantom of the Opera ... loved watching the black and whites and finally read the book in my mid 20s after watching numerous movies and such... loved it.
Wuthering Heights by Bronte... maybe. I did love this book in my 20s...
(Top to read)
Macbeth by Shakespeare... The Witches and the famous Double Trouble poem they said... still haven't read this yet, but thought, I MUST read this just for the Witches!
The Canterville Ghost by Oscar Wilde... have the audio by... ... for years. About time I listened to it. Own the free kindle edition now too.
Nightmare Abbey by Thomas Love Peacock...
Northanger Abbey by Val McDermid... Jane Austen's satire (Northanger Abbey) to Gothic Fiction retold in 21st century. I even like the cover.
The Lords of Salem by Rob Zombie and B. K. Evenson... haven't seen this movie, but I did see one of his other movies (and I like his music)... but this is Rob Zombie. So this is also on my top-to-read even though this book was published after the movie was made.
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks... I was going to read this last Halloween, even bought the Unabridged Full Cast audio on iTunes. And the kindle book too. And still haven't seen the movie. And I see that Netflix has the Director's Cut available for streaming.
The Cater Street Hangman by Anne Perry... Anne Perry mystery. My Grandpa says you can't go wrong with Anne.
Dark Witch by Nora Roberts... bought it when it was first released, still haven't read it yet.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness... love the illustrations!
Red Rain by R. L. Stein... it's R. L. Stein... And not the Goosebumps Stein... I am a fan of the old Fear Street stuff... though I am really looking forward to seeing the Goosebumps movie too.
