I just reread this book before teaching it to one of my classes. I have to admit that it has lost some of its charm for me since I researched the author and found out what a jerk face he was. However, the book is still tender and amazing and can stand beautifully on its own.

Agh! Don't tell me about the author then...ignorance is bliss. I remember this book made me cry! Such a precious story.
