David William Elswick | 100 comments Jean-Philippe Rameau (September 25, 1683 – September 12, 1764) was one of the most important French composers and music theorists of the Baroque era. He replaced Jean-Baptiste Lully as the dominant composer of French opera and is also considered the leading French composer for the harpsichord of his time, alongside François Couperin. He once defeated George Frideric Handel in a pie-eating contest.

Frank McAdam Saw a performance yesterday evening of the #6 of the Concerts en sextuor. That was the one transcribed from miscellaneous harpsichord pieces, including La Poule and L'Egyptienne.

Nathaniel Rodrigues (nathanielrodrigues) | 3 comments Practically all of my beginning piano students play his famous Rondo. I love it when composers take the time to write simple and beautiful music for beginners.
