VILLETTE by Charlotte Bronte is the quarterly read for Oct-Dec 2015. Read at your own pace and please use the "spoiler" tag when appropriate, so as not to spoil the plot for slower readers.

Finally started Vol 2 this week, and seem to be making better (faster!) progress through this section than I did Vol 1. Am about halfway through chapter 22 already, which means a bit more than halfway through this section.
Finished this section last night and read the first chapter of the next. This vol. seemed to go much faster than the first -- owing, I'm sure, to there being more action in it.
Just started chapter 20 and I agree this Volume is going MUST faster than the first. I also am glad we now know why Charlotte included the first scene in the Breton household. It seems like depression is a major theme...or atleast on Lucy's mind a lot. Not only did she have an emotional breakdown, but she can spot it, or looks for it in others. She could see that the King was depressing, simply by his brows and his posture.
Chapter 22:I wonder if the "nun" that Lucy saw was real...or just her emotions playing with her mind. I feel bad that Doctor John doesn't take her seriously at all and seems to think she's a bit crazy.
I finished this section today. It looks like things are looking up for Lucy and I am so glad. Though I am worried that her attachment to Pauline and Dr. John and that whole company may leave her depressed again in the future. She depends on them so much for happiness and even just to get by every day. I am worried it won't turn out well for her.I must say that I like Pauline SO much better than Ginevre. She seems more real and down to earth. I hope she wins Dr. John's heart.
