Review Group discussion

This is a general group. In joining this group you have agreed TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK of under 45,000 words within the set 8 week limit.
If you don’t agree to that tell me now so that I can find another member who will do so.
There is no genre filtering.

If you are only willing to review your own preferred genres then sorry, but you’re better off finding a group that specialises in your preference, or joining one of the 18+ rounds or a ‘clean’ review round. In this general group you might be asked to review fiction/non-fiction, adults’/children’s books, a religious text, BDSM, or anything in between. Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. Please consider each book as an example of its genre and length. A novella or short story is not going to have the same length/complexity of story/character arc as a full length novel. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

Sorry Layla, as much as I'd like to say yes, at the moment you have just signed up to another group and my policy is to not let new members sign up to more than one group at once.
Once you have completed all your reviews for the other group, you are very welcome to join another, even if the other group is still running.

Yes, as Melody said, if you would like to review as an author, you need to have an author page and a book page. If you would like to review any of the novellas in this or any other group, feel free to contact them and ask for a copy in return for a review.

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines. All reviews must be posted by November 1st December.

When you have posted your review on GR, amazon.com and .uk please post a link to your review in this thread. I'm a busy person, please don't make me chase all over the internet to check up on you.

All reviews must be posted to GR, Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

You have the next day or so to exchange your book files. If you have not received your round one book in a few days, feel free to move on to the next. My advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum).

This is not a stupid question; it isn't as obvious as it should be. Go to the author's page, and at the left-hand side you will see a box with the text "Follow author". To its right is an arrow indicating a drop-down menu. Click on this and you will see the option "Message author".

Just a quick note of apology for my newbie antics -- to reviewers and authors I shall review. Not only am I new but I have a whirlwind of a week and I managed to catch a little bug right on time so I'm not at my best. Hey Bud, sorry to hear about your illness. Just a quick heads up - I messaged you yesterday asking for your email and the file type you prefer (Mobi, Epub, or PDF) so I can send you my book and I haven't heard back yet. No rush, you don't review me until round 4, but I just wanted to let you know here in case you missed my message.

The books you are allocated do not have to be reviewed in the order specified, just that one of your allocated reviews needs to be completed by each deadline date.
Of course if everyone completes their reviews before the official end of the group, I get to move on to setting up other groups that much quicker.

You can send it to them all now, which is what people usually do. That way they can have them all to review at their own pace.

You need to request books from:
Emma Jaye for round 1- Review due Oct 20th
Bill Leviathan for round 2- Review due Nov 3rd
Mike Robbins for round 3- Review due Nov 17th
Cassandra larsen for round 4- Review due Dec 1st

As stated, you don't have to review them in that order. All reviews are to be completed by Dec. 1st
