Tom | 282 comments I've finished Part I and am liking the book a lot. I'm listening to the audiobook, and the narrator, Davina Porter, is excellent.

I'm struggling to get through Chapter 1. Not because I don't enjoy the story but because I find myself reading, and re-reading things. I can process the pieces but am having trouble understanding the whole. It might be that I keep trying to read it when I'm exhausted right before bed. I'll try reading a little now to see if that helps.

Tom | 282 comments Just finished Part II and still have some 25 hours of listening to go. Not complaining, as I like the the story so far - just that I'd have to listen over an hour a day to be ready for an end of month discussion.

Nichole Hammond Its not too hard to get through the audio book, I've already finished it. One thing that helped me was listening while driving and while doing house work. It made the dishes alot easier to wash lol.

Wow! Nichole, really? That's awesome! I was also just wondering if you had started reading it. I'm glad you posted.

I work 5 minutes from home so I don't get too much done in the car. However, my husband and I were listening together while he was cooking dinner and then also while folding laundry. It's been working out pretty well so far. I have just reached part II chapter 6.

Last night we also decided to watch episode 1 of the Outlander TV show. I enjoyed it! What I found interesting was that often times when movies/tv shows quote the dialog in the book it sounds very cheesy. However, that was never the case while watching Outlander.

I'll probably read a few more chapter and then watch episode 2.

Tom | 282 comments Thanks Des.

I think it's interesting we're all listening to the audiobook. Though when I listen I can't be doing anything else, otherwise I'd have to keep repeating sections.

Nichole Hammond Yeah I'm kinda like a dog with a bone when it comes to a good story, I just can't stop till I finish. I recently found out that I love listening to audio books because it feels like an old time radio show. Sometimes I'll make an experience out of it and turn out or down the lights and play it through my speakers.

Will you continue on with the series?

message 11: by Nichole (new)

Nichole Hammond @Tom
Yeah I probably will but I'm going to wait till after the book club Google hangout so that I don't get too far ahead and forget some things that happened in the first book

I think I may continue with the series as well. But Nichole makes an excellent point about waiting till after the meeting.

Tom | 282 comments Indeed. I'd not venture forward with the series until the discussion was done.

I have a question about chapter 14...

Maranda Carvell (marandacarvell) | 16 comments I tried and tried and just could not get into this book. I kept going because everyone loves the series so much, and eventually gave up 300-350 pages in. Maybe it gets better? I like a lot of different types of books but this one just didn't grab me for some reason.

I actually JUST made it to page 339. Tom, Nichole and I are listening to the audio book. That made a really big difference for me. I was stuck on the first two chapters for a while, struggling with it. But once I started the audio book, (and then later the TV show) I got really sucked in.

Tom | 282 comments My iPod was crashing about 3/4 of the way into Outlander (Chapter 37 to be exact, at a very exciting point.) I deleted and reimported the file into my library. While I got chapters finally (yay!) it still crashed. It occurred to me to see if this was a known issue and found this Goodreads thread.

Tom | 282 comments Finished the audiobook last night. While it's a good read/listen, I'm kind of glad to be done with it so I can move on to other things.

message 18: by Salina (new)

Salina Labrada | 15 comments So, I'm a bit behind but I FINALLY finished this beast of a book. I didn't think I'd like it honestly. Even if I did like it, I didn't think I'd be able to finish it because of the length. But I got through it all and it wasn't even painful! Well, I mean painful due to the length that is, the story (at times)...painful would be putting it lightly. I was very surprised with this book. I didn't end up just enjoying it, I actually love it. I think I could even see myself reading it again sometime in the future (or maybe trying the audiobook version).
