Brenda I nominated it. Hope like heck to get to both the group reads this month. Finishing one up and one more in front of both of these but I'm giving it my best. I've invited Silas to follow along via his Facebook page; keep your fingers crossed.
I've been missing something special, this novel being my first Silas House read. Beautiful writing. Yes, I've already gotten a copy of House's first novel, "Clay's Quilt." Thanks to On the Southern Literary Trail Member Josh for nominating this one for one of our April group reads.
I'm still waiting on my signed first. But I couldn't wait to get started on this read. I got a copy at our public library. The is a great selection, Josh. Thanks so much for nominating it. Thanks to all who voted for it.

A hidden crime burdens Vine with a guilt she does not deserve. The Great War ends and Saul returns home. Unforgettable characters. I will hate to see this one end. House is an author worthy of other group reads.

Just started it, and I'm already impressed by the gorgeous writing. Thank you, Josh, for nominating it.
Silas House was just named as one of the top 25 Generation X and Y people making a difference by Blue Ridge Country magazine. Article link: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/leisu...
I'm 70 pages from the end and have to go to work, aaargh! This is just wonderful. My father was from Boone, NC, and the speech patterns and old mountain ways sound so familiar to me from trips up the mountain to see my grandparents. I won't get home til 10:30, so that means a late night of reading to finish.
Really enjoyed this one. A little more subtle than most of what I really like. I was between a 4 and 5 but gave the upward nudge for the reasons I outline in my review (no real spoilers):https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I loved it as well. Josh, your review is just brilliant. I posted my review under comments by mistake and have been too lazy to change it.

I was absolutely captured by the beauty of this book. Your review is excellent, capturing the essence of love and forgiveness that courses through the pages. I was amazed at the ability of House to write from Vine's perspective. I read an interview of House by Lee Smith. She was especially impressed by House's creation of Vine's point of view.
I'll tell you this. If you recommend it, I'm going to read it.
