Admittedly I haven't read the book but enjoyed the first season of the HBO series. Now season 2 is about to start and apparently veers away from the book. Have any of you read the book and watched the series? Your comments please?

I just finished the book and season one pretty much is the book, with the ending the same as the ending of season one with a few differences (Meghan dies, not Patty)so season 2 is new writing.
The new season had quite the interesting start.
