I don't have a sngle q,x or z. Only 1 j and 1 k. Guess its gonna be 3 and 4 point title for me

I have several Q and Z on my list.

Do we have someone who wants to make a pretty worksheet to track progress?

Travis, have you read Zodiac? My husband (who is not in this group but gets some kind of perverse pleasure from gophering along with me) recommends it, but I'm not sure it's my cup of tea.

I'm not great with Google sheets. Last time I used it was a year ago for our last toppler.

I used a 10 x 10 grid for my example, but please use a 15 x 15 board/grid for part 2. After Part 2 is completed I'm going to have the fruit machine pick some squares for the bonus points, so the boards need to be the same size.

I have several Z & Q titles (I happen to be reading one at the moment: De zoetheid van perziken (but well, that doesn't count...).

I have not Casceil. I will add it but Neal Stephenson might be too much for a toppler. It is short, but I usually have to take my time with him as there is an obligatory confusion period with almost every Stephenson book I've read.

Hello team Triple Threat! I have one book that starts with a Q but nothing with a J. Thought I might try K as if I can read two that would be 10 points. Gosh, this is exciting! Not to mention Part 2 of the challenge!

hey just looked at part 2 and it looks like we definitely don't want to repeat a word so that we can have more words linked together.

I found a q-book but it is queen, I think this would be a common word right

My Q book also has Queen! It is a bit of a chunky read though so I think I may choose a few books with less pages.

I am doing the same thing finding books with low page numbers. I booked a bunch at the library and can always switch out.

I have an array of z books now. Went from none to quite a few but since we don't want repeats nothing saying I'll read a z book. I'm a mood reader and tend to decide on the fly anyway

I am a mood reader as well :) During the toppler week I work nights so I found two on audio and a third on hold for options.

I don't think it would be a problem if a bunch of books with the same starting letter were read. They can be linked through other letters too. Using "Q" -

Yes, if two people read the same book or different books starting with the same word.

There are many shortish books which start with zombie. Not a huge zombie fan but it is october so I may read 1 or 2 foe the Halloween spirit

I've found 5 books starting with Z, 2 with Q, none with X, 5 with J and 7 with K...
I have one which starts with a Z and also has one in the middle (Zwanenzang).

I came across another promising title I might read: Jack Glass. If other people are reading books that start with "j" or "k," fitting "Jack" into the eventual grid could work out well.

I will read 1 or 2 books. I have picked the following, but I still need to get them from the library:
The Joy Luck Club
King Solomon's Mines

I'm not sure if I will be able to read 3 or 4 books.
I will at least read these 2:
Zwanenzang by Loes den Hollander - which will get us 28 points for the first 7 letters: Zwanenz!
The other one is: Zomerhuis met zwembad by Herman Koch, which will get us 21 points for the first 7 letters: Zomerhu!
The other books I'm considering are: Zomernacht by Kristin Hannah (18 points) and Julia's reis by Finn Zetterholm (13 points). But I'm not sure about these 2, since Zomernacht has more than 400 pages...

By the way, does ' give any points (in Julia's reis)?

I just found 2 other books which would give more than 20 points each (and with not too many pages):
De verzonken jongen by Jan Vantoortelboom (23 points) and Het Bezoek Van De Lijfarts by Per Olov Enquist (21 points).

I am currentlt reading Speaker for the Dead. This will allow me to read Xenocide for the toppler
