Hayate stood by the stone looking at his sword in the moonlight. Its a pretty quiet night he thought
Walking up to the stone, Senke places one hand on the surface and closes his eyes to give his personal condolences to the lives lost before kneeling and lighting an incense.
Hayate had greeted him with a nod and waited for younger shinobi to finish before speaking. "Some of my closest friends are on that stone." He briefly sighed as he looked up to the crescent moon above.
Weilding his staff in one hand, Senke looks up at Hayate with a smile. "Then let's say you make them proud in honoring a young shinobi to train with you. Show me what you've got, and them what you've learned." He readies himself, gripping the staff with his other hand.
Hayate coughed suddenly. After the spasm stopped he looked at Senke and nodded firmly. "Come at me!" He announced standing with his legs apart and his hand on the hilt of his sword above his head.
With tremendous speed, Senke throws himself forward using a defensive pose as a counter-measure to reduce distance at minimal risk.
Hayate didn't budge and allowed himself to have been rushed. From behind Senke Hayate appeared in the moonlight his sword swinging in a continuous circle. the Hayate that Senke rushed towards turned to a log and Hayate's sword glowed.
Noticing the substitution jutsu last second, Senke is only able to use his staff to push downwards, propelling hemself back, kicking away the blade just in time.
Hayate sheathed his sword and flung himself backwards from a one palm back spring. "Heh, you're not bad!" He yelled and dropping to one knee. "But, are you strong enough?" Just as he said that the clone poofed and disappeared. The area was empty until suddenly Senke was propelled towards the earth, leaving just a head poking out. Hayate jumped up into a tree and smiled with his eyes shut.
Senke is stunned in surprise before he starts laughing. "Immobilization technique. I've gotta say, I think I've seen this before somewhere, I just can't remember." Underneath the earth, Senke struggles with his hands until they hand scratched and dug free a space to cut his palm with a razor in his sleeve. Senke closes his eyes for a moment to focus before an explosion sends earth debris flying and Senke polevaults with his staff and spins, intent on whacking at Hayate hard, blood trickling down the staff.
Hayate was caught off guard and knocked roughly to the ground. Before leaping to his feet he created two clones that quickly swung his sword from it's scabbard causing a dizzying mirage. "Dance of the Crescent Moon!!" He yelled as he flew high about Senke. He's strong, quite strong. He thought as he came down to meet Senke's staff.
The blood on the staff collects at one end in the form of a scythe blade, trails of blood intricately spread throughout the staff. "I can finally practice this." Senke stops the blade with the staff and swings the blood scythe downward with the sword, using the staff as a stepping stone to kick the first clone directly across the face, landing his feet on the end of the staff, tipping it back up into his hands, ready for the remaining clone and true Hayate.
Hayate was dumbfounded and him and his clone attacked with close range attacks. Such as turning the sword around and attempting some hilt hits and some kicks.
((OOH O.o it was soooo short... i'm sorry... LOL I'm pretty anticlimactic at fight scenes... :( I'm sorry.... I just learning still.. Hahahah))
((You're fine! ^^ Lol As long as the story continues, its fun to have some interaction in the first place)) Senke swings his scythe down and uses the staff as a spring to jump upwards before Hayate and his clone able to get too close. In the air, he cuts both of his palms and concentrates a moment, collecting his blood in spheres before throwing one at each target below to detonate on impact with the same force that freed him from the earth style immobilization jutsu Hayate had used earlier.
Hayate was caught off gaurd and was hit directly by the sphere and knocked to the ground. He wasn't quick enough to jump back up and ended up in a coughing spasm. He held a rag over his mouth and a kunai in his other hand. He shook and tried to get up. Damn....
Senke lands and rolls with ease, though collapses on one knee upon exiting his roll. Vision feeling hazy, he falls back on his rear, laughing. "That was fun!" He removes his scythe from the ground and allows the blood to return to his body from the scythe, making it once again an average iron bo staff.
Hayate relaxed once his spasm stopped. He leaned back onto his palms and faced the sky. "The moon is beautiful isn't it?" He said up into the sky. "You're really good, you know that..?" He coughed again and and cleared his throat. "I could even recommend you for the jounin position."
Senke looks up and begins counting his fingers, eyes half shut. "I still have one hundred and thirty seven C rank missions and 42 B rank to complete before I'm statistically qualified to be examined for higher placement. But I do appreciate the offer for your recomendation, I may come back to you to make sure I've actually learned something between then and now. I believe that's when I would need it. Thank you." He says with an innocent smile before falling onto his back, staring up. "It is a beautiful night..."
Hayate closed his eyes and smiled. He layed onto his back to more easily stare at the clear star filled sky. "I have always loved the moon. I made a promise on it once... A promise I hope will stay forever." He coughed slightly but was able to stay relaxed.
"With my fiance.... We made a promise to always protect one another... By the waning and waxing of the moon.." He eyed the crescent shape in the sky before coughing once more. "Sorry...." He cleared his throat.
Sitting up with a smile, Senke replies. "Don't apologize, that's a wonderful promise. And here I thought those promises were made by children and never kept. Its admirable that you would have such a truly strong bond with somebody." Looking at his own self, his smile weakens and his eyes grow distant. His veins begin to show themselves under the surface of the skin, pulsing visibly. "I'm not a true ninja even, just a useful tool." He chuckles. "I'm not meant to protect, only hide and destroy. With no chalkra, I seem like an average person with no skills and pass by undetected. In the face of danger or an assignment with requirements, I am to have to mercy." He looks up with a smile and a tear streaming down one side of his face. "Thats why I'm training to be one of the Anbu, so that I may have a place where I can be useful. There's not much else I could be used for, so I'm glad to know what I'm doing with my life, as sad as it might sound. It comforts me to think about, honestly. Maybe then, I can be part of a group that will see me as a person rather than a monster and a tool."
Hayate coughed roughly. "Unfortunately for me, I have been sick 90% of my life and have no idea how much longer I will be able to protect her...." He sighed and closed his eyes. A cough threatened to attack his chest once again.
Standing up, Senke offers a hand. "We all have an end, but until then, you have love as your reason to live. Fragile and potentially fatal, but honorable and perhaps strong enough to last. But what do I know?" He laughs. "I'm just a kid, after all."
Senke wipes a drop of his blood from his hands and smears it on the ground next to a name inscribed on the bottom. "A Yokai fought in that battle..." He says, placing a hand over his heart.
Hayate touches the stone and mumbles a few prayers. Then looked up at Senke. "I think they like seeing me train so hard." He smiled and went to Senke's side.
Senke blushes slightly and looks down without smiling. "I don't know how they feel ablout all the blood after seeing so much..." He realizes the ground near where he released himself from the earth as well as where he targeted Hayate is still soaking in his blood.
Hayate nodded. "I know, but I feel my comrades in vigor me...." He stated quietly then began coughing. He fell to his knees and clutched his chest. "I may have over done it tonight..."
Senke flexes one hand, reopening the wound, and pressed it to Hayate's mouth. "Yokai blood is unique, drink. It is infused with an abnormal healing property due to a large amount of white blood cells, as well as chalkra. It won't cure anything, but you're immune system will be strengthened while the blood passes through it's first cycle." His voice is firm, almost demanding. "Drink." He says
Hayate coughed and almost gagged. The thought of it repulsing him but for some reason he felt compelled to do as he was told. He drank the blood and relaxed on the ground coughing. "T-thank you..." He choked out. "W-what..... happened...??"
"Likely a lung compulsion due to a cancerous tumor. The white blood cells won't kill the tumor, but they will prevent it from growing and spreading for a time. Seek medical attention for further results." Senke unhooked some rags from his clothes and wrapped his hands. Offering a hand to Hayate to help him up, he says, "I can take you to the clinic for some salve to open your lungs and perhaps an agent for your condition. I have no deep knowledge in the medical field, just basic first aid for the most part, so a professional opinion may be morw advisable." Senke shows signs of worry in how his eyebrows meet in folds.
Hayate coughed and took his hand. His face scrunched. "I have a tumor??" He asked as he came to his feet. "I-I have been sick since I was a child...." He coughed into his fist again. "I don't know what to say..."
"It seems the most likely scenario, a slowly developed one at least, from my experience. Like I said, a real doctor could explain further details and possibilities." Senke replies. "At this point, my realistic guess is that it has become attached to your vital organs, making its removal potentially fatal. Again though, I have no experience in the field, really." He leans against the side of the stone, deep in thought.
Hayate nodded and stood dumbfounded a minute more. "The sun's starting to rise..." He mumbled as he turned his gaze towards the departing moon. "Say, we should go get some ramen... what do you think?" He asked coughing slightly into his fist. "On me..." He feigned a weak smile and extended his not coughed on hand to Senke.
Hayate laughed minimally. "Okay..." I won't be having seconds.... not really hungry at all.. He thought releasing Senke's hand. He cleared his throat and nodded towards the road. ((See you over at the Ramen house))

Naruto approached the stone. It seemed like ages since he had step foot in the territory of the dead. A small smile tugged its way onto his lips as he reminisce about team 7's early training sessions - one of which Kakashihad restricted him for his love ; food. This resulted in the overall bonding between himself and Saskue Uchiha. But now that Saskue was pursing vengeance against his brother ; Naruto was determined to help his friend. Save him from his pain. Naruto sighed, feeling the weight of Kohona on his shoulders. Countless pointless missions seemed to only lengthened the distance between him and his comrade.
"What're you sulking for?" A voice asked from above him. Jiraiya was standing on the curved edges of the rock that held up the wall of names, looking down at Naruto nonchalantly. He glanced at the names from where he stood quietly, not commenting on the subject. He wondered if the old man's name was on there. The man he had once called a teacher, whom had passed away while protecting the village. That was so long ago... Now Jiraiya was the one being addressed as 'teacher'.. or well, was supposed to be addressed as that.
"Pervy sage?" Naruto asked, his gaze rising from the rock to Master Jirayia who stood above him. Naruto had been so lost in concentration he forgot where he haf been. Secretly, he wondered why Saskue's name hadn't been added to the wall. It was inevitable that his comrads would not return to the leat mo matter how many missions Naruto pursued in order to bring him home. "Sulking? I don't sulk!" He declared standing straighter, his chest out as though to prove himself a strong Ninja. Emotionally as well as in all other categories that it would matter.
"So when do we begin training?!" He asked already acting like a child, impatience to begin.
"Well, don't be so impatient." Jiraiya replies, jumping down from the rock and landing on his feet next to Naruto. "There's still plenty of time." Jiraya had always had a laid back and care free personality, he wasn't ever in a rush to do things. The rare times he was, it was a critical situation that could probably affect the village. He placed a hand on his side and watched his disciple, with a relaxed smile on his face.
Naruto scowled, insistant to begin. "But Pervy Sage!" He whined loudly, frustrated with his laid back personality when the life of a Ninja was face paced. Naruto had an idea. "But what about your research?" He asked with a sly smile on his face. "Surly you must begin research as soon as possible,"
Jiraiya closes his eyes knowingly, already well aware of what Naruto was aiming at. "You don't have to worry about that, you won't be coming." He replies with a teasing smile, mimicking Naruto's tone. To further add to it, he turned his head around haughtily.
His frustrations getting the better of him, almost honorable Ninja in training, Naruto shouted out, "Pervy sage!" Naruto found it irritating that while darker forces grew stronger with each passing second, Master Jiraiya refused to train him with what little time they had left. "Isn't it bad enough that Saskue left - now Tsunade won't let me search for him - and you Pervy sage, " Naruto pointed a wagging finger at him, "Are doing nothing more than sitting on your royal toad butt!" He then crossed his arms in his annoyed manner like he normally had and turned around, muttering to himself.
Jiraiya, like he always did when Naruto would point out accusations on him, didn't hesitate to argue back, "Royal toad SAGE to you!" He corrected, pointing a finger at Naruto, "I'll have you know I've done tons of helpful things for this village! It's all because your such an impatient brat, jeez, what kind of adult will you become like that?! Listen up, Naruto!" He straightened up and lifted his index finger, as if preparing to say some important, "Impatience will get you nowhere! A man needs to enjoy himself when he can and think things through!"
