I just had a bit of a google. Perhaps we could see how many books we can read that fit with the following celebrations going on in November?

- Nov 1: National Family Literacy Day (e.g. read books for all ages)
- Nov 11: Veteran's Day (e.g read a book set during war time)
- Nov 19: World Philosophy Day (e.g read a book about philosophy)
- Nov: Melbourne Cup Day (e.g. read a book with a horse in it)
- Nov 19: World Men's Day (e.g. read a book by a male author)

Just suggestions and examples, I'm sure they could be broadened :)

Deborah Pickstone | 131 comments How about a Saint's life, fictional or otherwise - that's the other aspect of 'Halloween' after all! Or women in medicine, as 1st Nov is the date the first medical school for women opened in Boston. I definitely like the idea of focusing on Remembrance/Vet's Day as the Battle of Ypres was also mostly fought during November.

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments I just read an outstanding NZ book that would be ideal to read for November. It's Murray Annal's psycho-drama The Waterhole.
