So, the book is an intertwining of normal and unusual without explanation so that the reader can come up with their own ideas. I like your last suggestion in the spoiler, Ally!

I had a great talk about this book yesterday and I think it made me feel a little more comfortable with the horses and what was happening for the characters during those scenes. I am still not completely comfortable with the way the author shared the story - but it is a really interesting story with a lot to think about!
