Good evening and welcome! We will be talking about Grimnirs this month, which is the first part of Cora's story, and falls as book 3 if you are reading Runes chronologically (as we are :)
Once again, participants will be entered to win a signed copy of the book, so you gotta chat to win!

Today we're covering the Prologue and Chapter 1.

Well this is certainly different! Eirik’s in Asgard, where he feels he doesn’t belong. Do you think he’s trying to figure out a way to get Cora to come with him? And although this is technically from the end of Immortals…were you surprised by who Eirik’s real mother is? And holy crap what’s going on with Cora?!! Ahhh

Poor Cora…now she’s seeing ghosts? Have you ever had an unexplainable experience or gotten the heebie jeebies?
I was completely shocked by Cora’s revelation that she had actually been seeing spirits since the incident at the swim meet where Raine defied the Norns and saved some lives, but not all. And now she’s had to stay at the psych ward because she was honest with her parents. Would you tell anyone if you saw ghosts? It certainly didn’t turn out so well for our dollfaced Cora.
Way to go Cora for sticking through school though! And she thinks Eirik’s forgotten her when she’s ALL he thinks about  I just wanted to snatch them up and hug them.
*giggle* fire poker
Helloooooooo mr. leather pants. What did you think of Cora’s condescending but hunky ghost hunter encounter?
She’s definitely a Daddy’s girl; do you think her parents had good reason to keep her home for school?
And dangit she thinks Raine didn’t want to be around her but she totally kept trying to contact her- didn’t even know she was at the institute.
Sooo what the Hel is up with those vlog posts? Do you think she made them on drugs like she thinks she did? And then hottie pants shows up unannounced? Something weird is going on…

Tammy Donnelly | 1 comments I think Cora has some strong will she believed she was abandoned yet was and will always be brave and heroic she had to over come the hospital stay and her visions with out help to start yet she grew so brilliantly through out the book
awesome writing

Cindy Mathis | 2 comments I'm re reading and have forgotten a lot. I do think that Eirik wishes he was the one back on Earth. I like Mr. Leather pants a lot. He does make me smile. I think it was important for her parents to let her go back to school so life could start returning to normal, or as normal as it can be now. I definitely don't think she did the blogs on drugs.

Jeannie | 17 comments LOL - and we are back!!

Ohh the end of Immortals was crazy!! Definitely explains why Cora was acting so differently.

I think Eirik is trying to by his time until he can come back to Earth and spend time with the real Cora. Especially since Eirik saw a Grimnir in Cora's room. Wow Eirik's mother!! Poor guy.

My heart is going out to Cora - to see all those ghosts and having them around her all the time. I have gotten the heebie jeebies just in feelings. I too was shocked about Cora's spirit sightings and how long it has lasted. Poor Cora - I would have done what she had and confided to my parents. I would have trusted that they would understand and help me. Cora's parents sure took the wrong advice.

I can understand why her parents would want to keep her home but she was right. Cora needs to get back to normal. I feel so bad that Cora thinks Raine and Eirik didn't care about her. How sad that would make one feel.

HOT HOT!! Leather and Leather and Leather. Interesting interaction with the ghost hunter/grim reaper. Wonder how he knows her? Can't wait to hear more about him. Loved how sassy she got with him.

How scary would it be to see something you did or think you did but you didn't know it. I felt for Cora when she saw her vlog posts. Hopefully this will help her understand where Raine has been when Raine tries to explain. WHAT the Heck - leather guy just shows up in her room. Can't wait for the next chapter to read more.

Thanks for some awesome questions. Ashley!

I agree, i know as a parent you want to protect your kids but you have to let them be strong on their own sometimes.

Dude I know, I forget things but I've never had an out of body experience and can't imagine having some hunky dude be that, um, familiar with me without my knowledge. Yikes.

Day 2 Ch 2/3
So obviously the hooded leather hottie pants knows Cora but she doesn’t know him. Ahem, that’s some sexy stuff for someone with memory loss, maybe?
Several weeks? What is going on here…oh the Norns. Hmm that seems possible. Maybe Echo the Grimnir can answer our questions
If my husband pulled what Echo pulls in the car on the way to school I would swat him- it’s dangerous to distract the driver! Lol
We know what the runes are from the last two books, but of course poor Cora has no clue. Do you think she has them and that’s why Echo thinks she can heal? Why doesn’t she know she has them? Is he right about the Norns?
Seems like Raine has some parts of the story but Cora doesn’t want her help bc she’s upset she thinks Raine ignored her…how do you handle misunderstandings with your friends or do you have a more open communication style?
How had Cora made such a huge improvement in her grades? Do you think the Norns actually erased her memories twice, or that someone else is involved? With the way Raine and everyone is talking it seems like Cora never left.
Oh my stars what the crap is going on with Raine’s Dad’s Soul???!

Jeannie | 17 comments No kidding - poor Cora though; as hot as that would be to have hot leather guy making sexy moves on me I would also be a little frightening.

My guess is that Echo was with the Maliina Cora and since she is an immortal she would have had runes, could heal herself. I don't think at this point Echo realizes it's a different Cora. We know that Cora was marked by Maliina at the swimming pool that one time so she at least has one rune.

The Norns must of erased Cora's memory of the Valkyries from before the swim meet accident just like everyone else but Raine but I don't think they erased anything from her mind in regards from Echo and her vlogs, etc. That was all Maliina.

I personally have an open communication style with my close friends but if there is a misunderstanding I would want to talk to them about it. If they avoid me I would wait a little bit until they were ready or until I felt I waited long enough.

Again my guess is that it was Maliina's Cora that was involved with her increase in grades and the lack of her "being gone".

No - Raine's Dad's soul!! That freaked me out. He cannot be dead - not yet.

Great questions Ashley - thanks.

Meghan S Johnson (stargirlms) | 13 comments Seriously Cora is a strong girl, if all that was coming down on me at once I'd pull a Brenda and lock myself in my room listening to "Losing my Religion" all day.

So we're reading Grimnirs and things are getting mighty hectic,,,,,what does everyone think about discussions on sat and sun evenings? I'll be on vacay very soon and want to keep this going so we can continue to discuss Echo's hotness and Cora's strength (I mean to be able to deny that dude, hello woman how do you do it?) but I also have a lot on my plate. I want the discussions to remain open and relaxed and feel that if we try to schedule things strictly that sorta defeats the purpose. But mostly, I'm here for you guys and want to know what you think! So give me the truth- what works best for you in a Read along? (yes more questions specific to the book are coming hehe)

Jeannie | 17 comments That works for me. There are a few arcs coming up in this week and next. I like this idea.

Cindy Mathis | 2 comments Whatever works best for everyone.

Jeannie | 17 comments Ashley - I know schedules have been crazy the last few weeks or so. I wanted to check with you and see if this read along is going to continue. Please let me know.

Thanks! - Jeannie
