I was so excited to learn this, I want to share! When you are writing a comment, there is a link above the comment box on the right hand side that says "(some html is ok)". If you click on this link, a pop-up shows you which HTML will work. My favorite is the spoiler hiding tags.Using these tags will hide a spoiler so a reader can chose to click if they want to view the spoiler or just move along. The reader sees this (view spoiler) For HTML, you start the passage you want to hide with the opening tag--a word in between the less than and greater than symbols (aka angle brackets) and then end the passage with an ending tag--the same word between the angle brackets, but with a / in front of the word. You can see the example of the opening and ending tags in the pop-up.

If you press the (preview) writing next to the post button at the bottom left corner of the reply box, it will show you if you have done the correct HTML and the spoiler is hidden xx

I just realized that when viewing Goodreads on a phone app, the tagged spoilers are removed, with a note "spoilers removed." So for the fullest experience, look at Goodreads on a computer!
