Hey guys! So I'm like ~150 pages in right now. And ... it's just okay for me so far. It's a bit slow-paced, but I'm hoping it picks up!
Okay, I have finally started this! I'm up to page 101 at the moment. I'm kind of confused on this world and the king...has he been cursed? But so far, I'm liking it!
Okay I finished it tonight! This was a solid 3.5 star read. I really liked the world itself and the conundrum of the boy-king who was a monster, but had a good reason to be. I wasn't a huge fan of the MC...she kind of gave me whiplash with her emotions, but I did like her at the end. All the other characters I loved, and while I was kind of confused in the beginning of the story, somehow I got hooked to it. Looking forward to the sequel!
I had pretty much the same experience with it, Jenny. I see what you mean about the MC seeming kind of inconsistent. I didn't really feel much of a connection to any of the characters, although I liked them a bit more as the story went on. The romance was also not as developed as I wanted it to be. But it was an intriguing plot. I don't think I'll read the sequel, unless maybe I hear it's super amazing!
I'm not really sure if I "connected" to the characters, but some of them where so interesting! Khalid, Jalel, Despina...Tariq mainly annoyed me in how pigheaded he was being, but I liked Rahim. The evil sultan bad guy (can't remember his name) was also incredibly interesting, and fun to hate. Also the teacher who gave her the (view spoiler) was interesting. There was a lot of diverse variety in the characters, and I had no idea what any of them would do next, who was loyal to Khalid, who was truly an enemy of the MC...so that part of it I really enjoyed. The romance I agree with you completely with, Brigid.
Ah yeah, I see what you mean! There were a lot of very interesting/intriguing characters. And it definitely kept me guessing as to who we could and couldn't trust. :)
I love books with diverse and unusual characters, especially ones where it is hard to figure out their motives :)
I`ll join you in the weekend. I`m reading another boom atm, but picking up this next.
I read the prolouge yesterday, liked it.
Ahhh!!! I finished it and I LOVED IT!!!! I can't believe I sucked it down so fast!!! Definitely out of my reading slump...haha! I'm glad I waited and read it a few weeks before the release of the second book, I don't think I could have stood waiting any longer! Can't wait to hear what you guys think!!
Read a lot yesterday, am 220 pages into it now.
I like it but feel like its not the best time for me to read it, will finish it though. I feel like there are a lot of characters to keep track off but I love the plot and main characters.

@Harlee I'm making baby steps too. It hasn't really hooked me yet either. I'm about 45 pages in. Going to try to read more tonight so no worries! We can read it together!
Okay! :) I think part of it is that I'm reading it on my kindle and I hardly ever read on here anymore. I have tomorrow off from work so I'm really gonna try to make a dent in it!
I finished it yesterday. Probably should have taken baby steps because I never got hooked hooked, I got a bit more hooked but after 250 I thought more Why-whyy(in a why the h are you doing this stupid book, in a bad way). In the end I liked it didet love it as I expected. Maybe I will feel different if I reread it.
I'm at about 21% now. Still not hooked but I'm going to try and get as far as I can today since I work all weekend.

I'm so glad you liked it Donna! I didn't LOVE it, but I enjoyed it enough, it was a pretty quick read for me!

@Rose Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed and surprised too. I'm just really glad I got it on my kindle when it was on sale instead of actually buying the book.
Started this today! Hoping it's good, but either way I just need something light after the slog that was The Blade Itself :P
I was lucky enough to win a signed copy of the sequel (and it is SUCH a gorgeous book!) So I really want to try and get back into this book soon!
I hope you gals like it! I'm going to be reading the sequel pretty soon, maybe another week or so! Got it from the library! I'm also going to read all the novellas! There are 3, and 2 of them are free on Amazon. I read the one that was $2 already, and it was worth the $2! Its Despina's backstory.
I've owned this book for a while now and just have it sitting aside like so many books that sound amazing lol... do you guys think I should read the prequels first? I read all the Throne of Glass prequels first and was really happy knowing a lot more about the characters and back stories going into the actually 1st novel... sorry to ramble, just trying to get ya'lls opinions.
Jenn, you actually will want to read the first book and THEN the prequels. The prequels will ruin the twists in the first book if you read them first!

There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, using spoilers where needed. Have fun!
