JackAttack I find I'm a very unexpected crier - I can't really predict what is going to get to me. To pick a book for this week I referenced a list on books that are typical tearjerkers. As I've never read The Outsiders, I decided to give this a go.

Well, I didn't cry. But I came damn close at a few parts. I loved this story. I loved Johnny and Ponyboy and Sodapop and all the rest of the boys. I loved the strong relationship between the Greasers and I adored how relevant this 'classic' still is.

Although the story was a bit slow at times, it was OK - those slow parts just helped build on the wonderful wonderful relationships.

Easily one of my favorite classics that I've read. Although not as old as several others I've tried this year, it was the least dated of the bunch.

Marta (gezemice) Hi Jacki, I read this one earlier for a different week and absolutely loved it. I agree that it is not dated - or I should say it is dated in the best possible way. The hyper-realism and straight talk of the late sixties makes this book gripping in a way that not many are nowadays.
