Kirstin | 52 comments Harry is sassy and I love it!

message 2: by Gabriela (new)

Gabriela Love Harry. I think he is a great role model as he is selfless and does what he has to do even though he didn't ask to be THE CHOSEN ONE. He didn't ask for any of it, but he still saved the world (along with Ron & Hermione).

Vizzena Peverell Hahaha, was the Diary of Harry Potter any good? :P

I'm actually not sure what I think of Harry. He is selfless, brave and caring, like a true Gryffindor. And sassy ofc! But there are sides of him that I like less, like that he's sometimes short-tempered (which apparently is a common trait among gryffindors).

I also have another question! Harry obviously didn't ask to be the chosen one, Voldemort chosed him. But the question is did Harry REALLY chose to be good and save the world?
Voldemort murdered his parents and he became known as the one one destroyed Voldemort, the chosen one, the boy who lived. He was born into this role. Did he really have a choice if you think about it?
He obviously wants revenge because Voldemort killed his parents. But what if Voldmort hadn't killed his parents? Would Harry have felt the same way? What if Harry had been sorted in to Slytherin? What if other expectations had been put on him?
The entire wizard world expects Harry to live up to this role, so it's kind of like a self fulfilling prophecy.

Lindy | 11 comments @kirstin I agree so much!!!!

message 6: by Lina (new)

Lina | 79 comments When i started reading Harry Potter, i felt bad about him living with his aunt and uncle and his cousin, but he did come in the end as a brave, smart, well Harry can be sassy.I liked that he stayed strong after his parent's death, i liked when he rode the Hogworts train first time, i liked the time when he became a Gryffindor, when he met his two loyal friends Ron and Hermione, the so many arguments with Malfoy, i will never forget this character and i hope it will stay in other hearts too.

message 7: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Cozzi (jessycozzi) When you read the books you can totally put yourself in Harry's place... I immedesimate myself so much while reading, that's why I think J.K. has done a really good job!!

message 8: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephie_nbg) All in all I do love the character Harry Potter because he´s so brave and he tries to save the world. And he does. These books, and especially these person, really showed me that one´s able to reach everything if you really want it. That´s why I think Harry is good and he would be good to if Voldemort wouldn´t have killed Harry´s parents.. in my opinion (just talking about this because someone wrote about this in here) and let´s think about the whole process... would you really do so much risky things if you just want to revenge? It maybe gave him the reason why he wants it in the beginning but I really think the older Harry got the more he wanted to save the wizzarding world and not only revenge and protect himself.
So I do love Harry and I am happy J. K. Rowling created such a loveable character!

message 9: by Q-House (new)

Q-House | 2 comments I really enjoyed the whole series. Finding out about all the secrets in Harry Potter's life right along side him. It was well done. JK did a fab job with the character and the whole series. I even liked the fact that Malfoy was sort of redeemed (a little). Still a jerk, but not as bad as his dad.

message 10: by malayna (new)

malayna (malaynachang) | 81 comments I loved the series, though I read it a long time ago, so it is hard to remember. But I did watch the movies a while ago, so I know what is going on. I think that Harry Potter is an amazing series, with different types of emotion, characters, and settings. I also like the magical elements, and the general gist of it.

:) FIVE STARS

message 11: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 6 comments I'm reading the series again. Currently on the Deathly Hallows. When I find myself in trouble, I just think of all the trouble Harry has to overcome.

message 12: by BuseBeste (last edited Feb 07, 2017 10:01PM) (new)

BuseBeste Harry Potter is THE best book series of all time. I'm currently making a collection of all HP books, both in English and my mother language, along with the illustrated versions of HP series. Planning on making my children read them as I did, on a certain age and making them wait for the second one, if I can manage to do it.

Why? Cause it helps you grow into a better person, distinguishing the important things in life; loving, caring, realizing...
It creates awareness.
You can quote many things and hang on your walls in your home.

I love that JK Rowling has "designed" Harry Potter in such a perfect way; detailed and well-thought. There is no "bug" in series. It's... Perfect.

If you haven't read it yet, go and read them. No way you can regret it.

Giulia | 8 comments Yes, Harry Potter is the best book series of all times, I agree.
Nothing can compare.
It is simply that amazing in my opinion!

The Book Crusader (thebookcrusader) | 13 comments What always annoyed me about Harry was that, unlike Hermione, he never attempted to learn any new spells on his own. Hell, they even made fun of that in the last book—with him giving himself away in The Battle of the Seven Potters by being the only Harry to use Expelliarmus.

Not only that, he doesn't even cast a single spell in The Philosopher's Stone—book or movie version. I still can't get over the fact that he hadn't bothered to learn even one combat based spell by Halloween—as evident by the fact that his only means of attacking the mountain troll was by shoving his wand up its nose.

Thankfully, the Chamber of Secrets movie improved on this slightly by having him observe Arania Exumai, and then later use it on two of Aragog's children.

message 15: by Aliyaa (new)

Aliyaa Pathan Harry is... well he's HARRY!
He's often stupid, wouldn't be able to survive alone, and hot headed.
But he's also genuinely noble, forgiving, and actually smart too.

message 16: by S.T. (new)

S.T. Sanchez The thing I like most about Harry is that even though he was raised by horrible relatives he still chose to be kind. We have a choice in how we act. He could have become bitter and mean, but he chose to look at the positive in life.

message 17: by Chiyo (new)

Chiyo | 9 comments I really like Harry

message 18: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (bikki) | 9 comments I like Harry because he has a little more dimension to him. And by that, I mean hes not perfect. He sticks with his strengths and leans on his friends for theirs. His reactions to a lot of things are natural and not over done.

message 19: by Kaseadillla (new)

Kaseadillla | 9 comments I think he's a great character, mainly because he's obviously flawed and not described as having amazing looks which I feel most male protagonists are in YA books these days.

message 20: by Mark (new)

Mark Kloss (markkloss) | 25 comments Harry may not be perfect but you have to love him anyway. There is just something about his mix of kindness, bravery and friendship that I think is so appealing. J K Rowling did so well to be make him so likable despite or maybe because of his flaws!

message 21: by Mira (new)

Mira Harry Potter is my favorite book series character. He is brave, selfless and has been through a lot. He isn't perfect and he knows that.

message 22: by R.S. (new)

R.S. Merritt | 149 comments I like characters who are underdogs and pull it off just by force of will and guts. Harry does that.

message 23: by isabella (new)

isabella Harry honestly is the most underrated character of the whole series, he doesn't get enough love. I never really gave much thought to him, until one day I was rereading the series (yet again) and suddenly realized what an amazing person he was. He was just like Snape or Voldemort, raised without a real, loving home, yet he was never once tempted by the Dark side. He even forgave Snape and Dumbledore in the end, and found pity for Voldemort. And let's not forget the greatest quote in literature: 'There's no need to call me sir, Professor.'

message 24: by R.S. (new)

R.S. Merritt | 149 comments He's the classic underdog hero. He's put up against this image everyone has of his father and expected to be this great hero and luckily for him his natural talent on the Quidditch Field and in the realm of magic and heart get him there. The story is full of the same type of heroes. Why can;t I remember the name of the boy at the end who kills the snake. Who stand up to Voldemort. Whose parents were in an insane asylum. JK obliviously has a special place in her heart for those who are able to rise above their station and triumph. Neville! I totally had to Google it. Kept thinking he was 'Nelson'.

message 25: by Dalia (new)

Dalia | 183 comments Ok, don’t get me wrong. I love him. I just get so aggravated with him when he makes all those stupid decisions just to move the plot along!

message 26: by Beenish (new)

Beenish (beenishamir) I haven't read it yet but I got the books recently and I'll be reading soon!

message 27: by bookishcarli (new)

bookishcarli | 36 comments I'm not a huge fan of Harry......... please don't kill me

T ✩ Handmaiden Of Amidala (tarria) Love, love, love him. He had to go through so much but he still pulled himself together and saved the day. He wasn't arrogant, stuck-up or overpowered. He came from an abusive household and saw Hogwarts as his only escape. His dry British wit makes me laugh especially in Half-Blood Prince.

message 31: by Leviosa (new)

Leviosa | 20 comments I feel haary and ginny is very weak as a couple harry should have ended up with Hermione.

T ✩ Handmaiden Of Amidala (tarria) @Leviosa Harry saw Hermione as a sister and best friend. There was never anything romantic between them. Not every good friendship has to become romantic.

Lisa Goldstein | 136 comments I'm only on Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban book and the Goblet of Fire movie. I like Rick Riordan's books better...IMHO

message 34: by Nat (new)

Nat (nataustin) | 13 comments Love him so much!! I don't agree that he should've ended up with Hermione, although I don't think Harry and Ginny made a great couple either. She's alot like his mother, though, so idk.

I love that he wasn't this 'all powerful' hero, esp as a child. Nearly everything he accomplished was as a result of the help he got from people who cared about him. IMO, it would've been unrealistic if he alone could do all he did between the ages of 11 and 17. Harry's a gem, despite his flaws and mistakes.

message 35: by anna (new)

anna marlene | 22 comments I love Harry as well. But I don't think that he and Hermione would have made a good couple. I see them as siblings, especially because nether have siblings

message 37: by Marc (new)

Marc Gregson (marcjgregson) What I really appreciate about Harry Potter is that although he is deemed incredibly special by the wizarding community, he's not the best at everything. Yes, he has a real penchant for Defense Against the Dark Arts, but he also struggles in Potions. In a lot of ways, he feels very relatable. I appreciate his growth as a person, and my heart ached for him and his deep desire to find a place where he belonged. Hogwarts became his home because he didn't have one before.

message 39: by Mariah (new)

Mariah | 68 comments I love Harry! I think he's selfless and kind, he's a great wizard and he's able to defeat villains in every book. I love how he cares about his friends! I love his relationship with the Weasley family and Sirius, and Hermione and Hagrid. I love how Professor McGonagall and Dumbledore take care and worry about Harry almost like parents. Harry found so many friends at Hogwarts that became his found family, I love it.
