Me too. If I can be of any help just let me know.
Heather, are we going to shoot for the pairing closer to Thanksgiving to hit the book sales? and give me more time to compile my list.....

The pairing is done before Thanksgiving so you can go crazy with sales!

You can buy any time after you get your pairing. I just moved the sign up deadline a little later so people can still sign up until Nov 8th.

Creating the wishlist is the hardest part of the whole process - the rest is just fun.
Is it ok if I don't have a wishlist? I have a public profile with priority shelves, so really, any book from those shelves I would be happy with!
I had my 17 year old daughter help me. I have to try on my own.lol. I'm excited to start. Hugs all Andrea fleury

I think that works!

Im excited to be matched up with someone! Not sure if I should maybe include a note that insists they wait until December 25th to open? Perhaps not since I myself don't think I want to wait that long to open my gift either =D

The deadline is before Christmas day, both so people aren't checking their email and phones during christmas and because this is a secular gift exchange.
Most people just get books a little at a time during the exchange dates. You can give starting when you get your match until the deadline, which I think is December 19th.

I need to stay away from elfster. I already did my list, but now I can see what everyone else is picking and my list has magically gotten bigger. Must stop looking at all the awesome picks.

Ha! I'm always adding to my elfster list!

It took me all day to come up with mine, if I start checking other lists, mine will get ridiculous!
My elfster list is sparse - I'm without a laptop at present :( Hoping to rectify it before whoever gets me gets a headache! And there's books out later this month I'm really wanting.
Do people buy before Dec? I've only done this once before.
Last year I waited for the Thanksgiving sales. I think I only bought from ARe and Amazon because they're easiest to gift.
I have to go and edit my Elfster list after all. *looks shamefaced* I bought one of the books on my list. I have no impulse control. *sigh*

LOL i do that ;)
No shame, Lisa, it's hard to delay reading wishlists. Especially when peeps are talking about it, getting you all wound up!
Meep wrote: "I remember ARe having a sale meaning more books could be gifted :)"
That's where I shopped!

I can only shop at Amazon have a big gift card balance there. I can receive gift from either ARe or amazon and the email is the same.

Impulse control? What is that?

It a bad, sad thing!

Whew, thank heavens I have none then ;-)

Meep wrote: "Is that an offshoot of the club 'Ohhhh Shiny!!'"Why yes it is and also club 'Ohhhh Pretty, me wants!'

I was really tempted last night to pick up
Darker Space and something else at ARe last night from my w/l because of the Loose ID 25% rebate but I was able to talk myself out of it because it's not like I have nothing else to read, lol! I'm currently reading Special Forces which will probably take me through close to Thanksgiving at the rate I'm going (and these are longgggg books!).
I have given in to my lack of self-control when it comes to books. My justification is that there are worse (and more expensive) things to be addicted to!
Liza wrote: "I have given in to my lack of self-control when it comes to books. My justification is that there are worse (and more expensive) things to be addicted to!"Weeeell, that's kind of true? I don't know what possessed me to do it *curiosity killed the cat stuff* but I recently went back and pulled all my books expenses for the last 2 years and added it up. I was actually speechless. Goes without saying that I will never, EVER do such a thing again! :)
