1. How did The Martian challenge your expectations of what the novel would be? What did you find most surprising about it?

What I found most surprising was the adventure and humor in the book. I honestly thought it was going to be dry and depressing and more of a drama. I was quite satisfied to find this book to be a page turner and fully of humor and excitement.
