In Episode 8, Tara, Susan, and I discuss our favorite books by Hispanic authors in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, and agree to disagree about One Hundred Years of Solitude.

It's new episode day, and I come bearing gifts in the form of bonus links for listeners!

If you're like Tara, and were wondering about Rainbow Rowell's fandom experience: An interview with Rainbow Rowell: http://www.hypable.com/author-intervi...

And the sequels (! I didn't know there were two!) to The Shadow of the Wind: The Angel's Game and The Prisoner of Heaven.

And lastly, there's a Readathon this weekend! I will not be reading 24 hours, but you know I'll get in a few chapters. If you want to participate, here's the site: http://www.24hourreadathon.com/?p=5404

You could even download the Big Library Read from the show notes, and knock out two reading programs in one with that last link!

Can't wait to hear your feedback on the latest episode!

Megan (meganbrinckerhoff) I was able to finally listen to the Magicians podcast yesterday and this one today, YaY! I don't really have anything to contribute more to the discussion...but I think my favorite Hispanic book would be Almost A Woman, too! And now I'm wanting to reread Bless Me Ultima because I was probably 15 when I read that book and I don't remember it very well, just that I liked. :-)

Megan (meganbrinckerhoff) Oh! One thing I forgot to mention during discussion was how annoying Amaranta was to me. What was up with her falling in love with guys and then refusing to marry them and then torturing herself about it? Did I miss something?

Megan (meganbrinckerhoff) Can you include the link to that list of 50 books to read you mentioned?

I agree with you on Amaranta! I understood why she felt like punishing herself, but after Rebeca ended up marrying someone else and Pietro Crespi had died, I kind of wanted her to be able to move past it.

The link was in our show notes, but here it is again: http://www.onlinecollegecourses.com/2...

I agree that Amaranta was annoying as well! I was really frustrated at her pettiness. She just couldn't get past that one thing and just threw her life away. She could have been so happy if she just let herself be.
