I am reading becoming Jane Austen by John spence. It is a biography. Besides trying to figure out who is who with all the names, it is so far very interesting figuring out her muses in her stories.

Hi, Sherlan! Welcome to our group. I love that you've stuck with the first one you read. Nothing more is required from you. :) Thanks!

Teresa I finished Mansfield Park about two weeks ago. I liked it even better this time.

message 18: by Sherlan (new)

Sherlan | 2 comments Oh I loved Mansfield Park (poor Fanny Price). Have you seen the film version (1999) with Frances O'Connor (as Fanny Price) and Jonny Lee Miller (as Edmund Bertram)?

I saw the movie :-) And it was horrible.

message 20: by Teresa (new)

Teresa Yes I saw it too and wasn't keen on it either. I like the one with Billy Piper as Fanny. They cut quite a bit of it but I found it very enjoyable.

Nathanaela Farenas | 3 comments Hi! I am new to this group. Just want to say, I'm glad to be here. I am currently reading Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility which was given to by sister as a birthday present to me. I find the account deeply profound and I look forward to reading and exploring more of Austen's wittiness in his literary works. May you all have a lovely day. :)

Hi! Thanks so much! Have a lovely day.

message 34: by Piyangie (new)

Piyangie Emma. It was a lovely read and I loved Mr. Knightley! My second favourite after P&P though I'm still to read Persuasion which is said to be Austen's best.

message 35: by Teresa (new)

Teresa It's amazing how different people like different books. I found Emma awful hard going . I didn't like Emma herself at all which didn't help. But I've promised to read it to honor her anniversary this year. You'll love Persuasion. My favorite.

message 36: by Mathilde (new)

Mathilde Weiss-Maurin | 1 comments Hello, I just joined your group.

I am currently re-reading Pride and Prejudice, which is, admittedly, one of my favorite novels by Jane Austen: one, because I just love the character of Anne Elliot in Persuasion (and of Wentworth, let's not fool ourselves), as well as Northanger Abbey.

I don't think we really can have only one favored character, and one favored Austen's novel... Do you?

message 37: by Madeline (new)

Mathilde

Hi, Mathilde! Welcome to The Official Jane Austen Book Club! I agree that it is hard to have just one favorite character or favorite novel. Jane Austen's works are flawless!

I thought it was nice to have it read aloud by someone even though you've already read the account :)

Christmas Carol ꧁꧂ Sanditon. I read an unfinished version.

message 47: by Briana (new)

Briana (neverlate) I've gotta say that the Jane Austen book I've read both the most and most recently is actually Pride and Prejudice. I've been writing on fanfiction.net about the characters and why I believe the book is a classic.

message 48: by Elda (new)

Elda Pappadà | 17 comments I am going to begin reading Sanditon!! Has anyone read the book and watched the BBC series?

message 49: by Anna (new)

Anna | 11 comments Elda wrote: "I am going to begin reading Sanditon!! Has anyone read the book and watched the BBC series?"

I have done both. The book is great, I wish Austen got to finish it!! I don't love the show, but some of it feels quite Austen-ey.

message 50: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Lewis | 2 comments Persuasion, most recently. The one I like the most and have reread are Emma and Pride and prejudice.
